The beaches were nice and relaxed.

The beaches were nice and relaxed. Loved that they were mostly dog friendly and others were respectful. The little aquarium was fun. Didn't like the views of the offshore oil rigs and the water was murky at the gulf facing beaches. Restaurants were weak. Mosquitos were out of control, we got eaten alive from dusk to dawn. Watch the gorgeous sunsets from West Beach, then run for the car!

The beach is very nice and more private than others which is why we come here. We’ve been there many times. I do think there is a need for more restaurants. And perhaps grocery store closer! Better communication with regards to the ferry. ⛴️ We missed it every time we went down there.

I loved the fact that the pool was right out in front of us and that the patio was big enough for four people or more. The pool water was great. There was some good places to eat right on the island and we did go off the island one time to eat. Everything was wonderful as far as I was concerned I would come back in a heartbeat. John was very personable and was very good to get back to us. Had a good experience with the Vaca Sa.

We realize that nothing can be done about it at this point, but the haphazard layout of the many vacation beach home properties makes the island look messy. Thankfully, the home construction ends at the west end public beach area and the natural beauty of the island begins.

We loved the overall laid back feeling of the Island.

We loved the overall laid back feeling of the Island. Not commercialized at all. And all of the beach houses - when we weren't on the beach or relaxing, we enjoyed driving around and looking. Restaurants were good to very good and shopping was as expected (beachy). Beach was clean and flags were appropriate. Appreciated that the beach was dog friendly. Be sure to stop at grocery stores, or Walmart before getting to to the island because there are only a few convenience stores that charge convenience store prices. So, if you have to go back and shop because you couldn't stop, plan on about at least 3 hours to get your groceries and stuff and return.

Dauphin Island is that quiet little oasis to get away from everything when you just need some beach time. The beach is pristine, with gentle waves to keep it fun for the kids. There is some really good food to be had on DI as well. Do NOT miss the Lighthouse Bakery. We didn't get to visit the Marine Lab because it was closed for renovations, but I'm sure it's a must do. Would I visit DI again? Absolutely!
