Super rural. In a valley and big mountain views and access to excellent hiking. The locals are very welcoming and friendly. The town is tiny but has excellent restaurants, cafes, and bars. Grocery store and gas stations conveniently located. It has everything you need, and nothing more. Rich history, check out the South Park City open-air museum. You can even go gold panning! Keep an eye out for elk, you might get to see a heard of a few thousand!
Don't miss the South Park City Museum. Try Millonzi's for a good meal. Italian. And you must order the cheesecake for dessert! Drive another 36 miles to Buena Vista and take in the Collegiate Peaks. Awesome!
It's a really cool small historic town with access to incredible outdoor activities. Great hiking fishing and skiing in the hot springs are only a short drive away. Great inexpensive place to stay in the Park County area.
You need to stay here. Historic location (1923) with lots of character, sit in front of the wood stove read a book, or play a game. Enjoy an adult beverage in the Saloon and hang out with locals- perfect to gain insight on must see and do while in town. Get tips on where the locals go. Great mining town- I wanted to do some gold panning- but it being winter the water is a bit cold, LoL. I will visit again I loved this place.
Beautiful small town in the mountains of Colorado. Friendly people, small town atmosphere.. Lots to do: camping, fishing, hiking, biking, panning for gold..too much to fit here. Can be a little windy as it is in South Park. Don't miss the old west museum!
My son and I were staying to climb the 3 14ers and Mt. Cameron. We spent only one night, got up early the next day and went climbing. We had dinner in town at the lovely Italian restaurant and walked around the town. It was very pleasant. I would visit again to learn more about the area.
