Located in Fruita, 13 miles from Colorado Mesa University and a 4-minute walk from Fruita, Updated Fruita Cottage - 1 Block to Downtown! The space, the beds, the screened in porch, walking distance to downtown and the large bedroom in the rear of the. House. The rear bedroom allowed us extra privacy from activity in the main house.
It was a clean room. Pillows were hard and small. They should replace the pillows. Did not like the bath room sink being in our room area like it was. No privacy for the user. Other hotels have the sink in the bathroom. We ate at the tapitio restaurant next door. A little pricey, but good food. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Our kids (10/9) are HUGE dinosaur fans— we participated in the Dinosaur Journey dig in mid June and had a blast. Of course, Colorado National Monument is about a mile out and was totally worth the time.
I've been mountain biking in Fruita for the last 25 years and the riding is fantastic! Besides mountain biking, Colorado National Monument is a heartbeat from downtown Fruita and it offers spectacular scenery, road biking and hiking. Grand Junction is nearby for even more mountain biking and hiking options as well as good restaurants and breweries. Don't miss out on the Hot Tomato for pizza; the Copper Club brewery for awesome beer and a nice open courtyard to soak up some rays and meet new people. Also, the Dragon Treasure Chinese restaurant has good food, a friendly staff and quick service.
We love visiting our son and his family in Fruita! We drive here from Chicago three or four times a year, and always enjoy exploring the area and doing new things. On this visit we visited the Fruita Library and Recreation Center, which we found to be amazing! We always hike in the Colorado National Monument several times a week. We love hanging out at the Copper Club, whether it's playing games or sitting on the patio with friends and family sipping beer, playing bags and listenings to the local musicians play their guitars. We walk to the coffee shops in town and visit the second hand store every time we come here as well. City Market is always stocked with the food items that we need! Overall, the local Fruitians (if that's acceptable) are very friendly and welcoming, considering there must be more visitors here every year!
Colorado National Monument is very beautiful and worth spending a full day, if you enjoy hiking. The drive is also very scenic, and there are numerous scenic view points, with short easy walks too. Good place to view wildlife, such as Big Horn Sheep, marmots, and a variety of birds. Dinosaur Hill was also interesting and worth a visit if time, There are no fosills or dinosaur prints, but the history was interesting, and views of the valley and Colorado National Monument were nice. A few sign posts were missing on the trail around the hill,
Fruita is a little gem. There is a great area downtown with outdoor seating where you can socialize. There are two restaurants which are exceptional - Karma Kitchen and Hot Tomato. It is the gateway to Colorado National Monument where the hiking offers stunning scenery. The vibe in downtown continues to get more interesting. Coffee at Aspen Street Coffee is a great kickstart to the day and an attractive cafe with friendly service.
I was in town for a bike race and shipped my bike directly to the hotel. The staff was absolutely wonderful with helping me out with getting the bike. The front staff and the Assistant Manager (can’t remember his name) all wonderful, but the Assistant Manager just went out of his way to help out, really just a great guy. Thanks for making it a great event. Eric Miller
I had a quiet room on the third floor not too far from the elevator. Parking was convenient to a side door. The room was large and there was no noise from traffic or from other guests. A good night's sleep is what it is all about for me and this hotel delivered. Good price value as well
Staff was super friendly at both check in and check out. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was great. Hotel was quiet and located in a great spot. Impressed with hotel for the price. Will be back in the future.
LOVED the bed. I know this sounds silly, but I would like to know what kind of mattress. First time my back has felt better in a LONG time. Very wonderful staff, so helpful, kind! Love the Balanced Rock Inn!

Location was excellent for walking around Fruita.
