Gatlinburg is an overrated, overcrowded, tourist trap where you spend to much money for crappy food, basic experiences better had other places, and over crowded hiking trails. The cabins are stacked, the town is packed, and the whole thing has made me NEVER want to return to the area. Don't waste your money.

I feel Gatlinburg is a great place to visit for a day trip.
I feel Gatlinburg is a great place to visit for a day trip. The sky lift, wine tastings, restaurants, shopping and proximity to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is awesome, but I wouldn't stay in downtown Gatlinburg more than a day or two again. Prices are extremely high and poorly marked. The gas stations don't even display their prices.

HillBilly Golf is a Must, Drive up to Roaring Fork it's Beautiful. The Village has the Donut Friar and the fountains as well as Misty Mountain soap and The Celtic shop. Best Little Italian Restaurant was good.
But Lots of overpriced souvenirs stores and food places.
Walking is Extremely Crowded and parking is ridiculous $20 to park
Most attraction are on the expensive side so we chose not to do them. If your on a budget chose wisely and don't let it get to you. If you have no problem with expense then by all means have fun. I do not recommend CCs pizza. They refused to let my husband in because he was not eating and we was not paying for him just to come in to sit.

Great city and awesome area. Just way too busy!!
Great city and awesome area. Just way too busy!! We ate at Log Cabin Pancake House and was excellent and ate dinner at the Park Grill and had some awesome steaks! We enjoyed riding through the Great Smoky Mountains everyday and seen bears every day. Love the Smokies!!
Hotel was convenient to downtown Gatlinburg. Overall the room was clean. No check in or out needed which was very convenient. Offered a checkoff list for any extra linen, towel or toiletries that may have been needed for the stay which was simple, fill it out, leave it on the door and your supplies were left for you at the door. They have a community kitchen where you can cook your own meals and a community center (room) with a pool table, tv, computer and printer if needed.
This was our first day at Edgewater. We loved it! The hotel itself is showing its age but the interior is well kept and up to date. Our room had a spectacular view of Gatlinburg and we were right in the middle of everything. Also, the breakfast is very good. They had everything you could want for breakfast.
A number of people complain about the parking. However, once you learn the layout of the parking and the hotel. It is not a problem at all.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms have a nice design and were cleaned well. Generous breakfast bar with a good range of choices. Located very close to downtown Gatlinburg, I is any easy walk and great to be able to park at the hotel and just walk around all the shops. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great stay in Gatlinburg!!!
