United StatesI really liked the location.It is close to alot of places to shop and wasn't to far from the funeral home.We stayed over night because of a death in my family.So I was already stressed out over that.So it was nice not having to stress over where to eat or get gas etc.

I grew up in Hazard so this isn't some out of town snob...
I grew up in Hazard so this isn't some out of town snob cracking on a small mountain town. I went off the EKU and never returned right out of high school. Went back this past week for a funeral. I was wondering if the place had changed or not. Oh my, yes it had!! Businesses closed, roads in disrepair, houses falling apart and an overwhelming air of broken down despair. I didn't think it possible but the place is an even worse pit of rot and decay than when I left 40 years ago. Imagine Detroit meets Appalachia with a healthy dose of narcotics trade and you get a good idea of what my impression of the place is like today. Granted it was never Mayberry but at least we could roam the woods hunting squirrel and rabbit, without being abducted. We could coast our bikes down from LaCitidale screaming all the way in excitement, not fear of being mugged or shot. I do not think I shall go back again!

Hazard is NOT a tourist attraction so you have few hotels/motels to choose from. If you are BUDGET MINDED and don't care about squeaky beds and no blow dryer in the room then you will be satisfied. If not pay $50 or more then go Hampton or Holiday Inn. THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN HAZARD. I don't know why young people stay!!!

The shower in our room was broken we didn't know till we got up the next morning expecting a hot shower and the faucet was broken...we checked out and I told the girl it was broken and all she said was Really! It was like we didn't matter..won't visit here ever again

The beds were super nice, great location, staff wonderful. Friendly kind. Will stay again soon. Great coffee, no breakfast due to Covid restrictions. But snacks to hold you over.
