Hickory closed down at 10 pm only place that was still open was Wannaburger so we got a burger This was very unusual for a Saturday night bars do not close until 2am so cannot go by this review I live in hickory have worked and lived herevforv46 years great place but my friend was very disappointed especially as he had driven 3 hours to here

I came specifically for the grand opening of the Hickory...
I came specifically for the grand opening of the Hickory Aviation Museum. The folks there were very hospitable. I thoroughly enjoyed the new museum. It is a 6.5 hour drive to get there for me, but well worth the trip. I wish I lived closer so I could go back again!

I have no idea why Hickory has been named "One of the best...
I have no idea why Hickory has been named "One of the best places to retire" in North Carolina. Lots of traffic. Lots. Even local roads feel like highways. There's Hickory Furniture Mart and some quaint shops but in my opinion, nothing to write home about.
However, if you like to hike, I do recommend Bakers Mountain Park. A compact park with nicely maintained trails.

It was close to our family’s, good Reastant’s and Shopping.
It was close to our family’s, good Reastant’s and Shopping. We had Breakfast at Cracker Barrel, it was next door to the motel. We played Golf and met with Our Family for a Thanksgiving Dinner. Our Mother is in a Retirement Home and it was Close to her. We come down every two weeks to be with her.

Kudos to the local government for all the lovely parks,...
Kudos to the local government for all the lovely parks, which appear to be recently updated. Lots of fun things to do, especially if you like to walk. Their downtown Union Square is precious and fun! We ran across a Costumed Dog Competiion on Friday evening - too cute. Be sure to visit Carolina Crafted General Store for great gifts at incredible prices, and stop in at Olde Hickory Tap Room for good food & drinks and fun ambience. Olde Hickory Station was a great place for dinner too. And I found too many "treasures" at Hickory Antiques Mall, which is huge. Be sure to include a stroll around the Lenoir-Rhyne campus, which is beautiful, and stop in their lovely chapel for a quick prayer of thanksgiving for all-things Hickory! Looking forward to our next trip there to do more exploring AND shopping!

I was there for a wedding only and Hurricane Helene had...
I was there for a wedding only and Hurricane Helene had other ideas. I booked my room for a 2nd night so my family could stay there after loosing power at their AirBnB and I went home to Raleigh. Horrible destruction in western NC. Thankful Don and crew were able to be open and offered clean rooms. Very appreciative!

The cottage is in a quiet and safe area of Hickory and the Downtown area is only a short walk away.The property is spacious,Clean, very comfortable and well maintained.It has everything you need from a good kitchen ,cosy lounge, lovely beds and a great garden at the rear also a nice decked area accessible from both bedrooms were you can use the gas barbecue and have lots of seating. It’s perfect for a lovely relaxing vacation.

location_peaceful away from bussy traffice noise. safe because it is away from business traffic. but convinient to shopping and restaurant just couple blocks from the hotel. supplied with enough essential for the stay.
