Joplin is a good weekend getaway.
Joplin is a good weekend getaway. We went to the local waterfall and had a wonderful time taking pictures and climbing on the rocks. We absolutely loved Roller City for the skating and laser tag. Their laser tag option was nice laser guns and made for a great day of family fun. We also stopped at the civil war battle site in Carthage which was small but informative for our history buffs. I even dropped into the Precious Moments chapel which was cute and really informative about the artist and his life. The grounds are beautiful and it felt like a great piece of Americana. We drove on Route 66 as well. In past trips, I have gone to Oceans of Adventure which the little ones just loved. So, plenty to do for a 3-day weekend adventure.

The room had to be heated, there was excessive noise from pounding to voices. The bathroom had no heat, water from the shower got on the bathroom floor. The bathrooms in the lobby did not work. The breakfast area had nothing but out of order signs tacked onto the equipment.

Got there, checked in, to find out that they had us all the way in the back, that's strike one. Couldn't accommodate my handicap sister, strike two. Went out to get something to eat, climb those stairs to find out the key didn't work. Back down to the desk and the man said that happens sometimes, that done it for me. Never will I stay there again!

The motel was so horrible!
The motel was so horrible! Could barely move around in the room, cockroaches on the bed, walls & ceiling, no where for anything to set things down, beds were uncomfortable, it said they had a outdoor pool which was all covered & not even open, one little pillow on each bed. I should of paid an extra $20 & stay at a place that was nice… this place was horrible!

Joplin obviously has an issue. When your hotel requires a 500 dollar cash deposit, because they can’t trust their clients it’s a bad sign. Traffic on the one main road in town was terrible. We did have a decent meal at the Mythos Greek restaurant. I appreciated the bartenders heavy pour in my G&T. The food was good. Unless you absolutely have to stop in Joplin, Don’t! We had friends doing a track meet in town and we drove over to meet them, so it wasn’t a vacation choice.

We only stopped for the night but for a short visit we had everything we needed. Restaurants very close. Parked right outside our door. Clean and comfortable room. Staff was great! The entrance was a bit hard to find but once we got there everything was great.

The staff was also very welcoming. My spouse and I each got three free drinks per night stay which was a pleasant surprise! I would highly recommend this hotel!

The lady at the front desk put us in a room not facing the interstate which was very thoughtful. Great breakfast set up. Stocked market for cold drinks and snacks.
