It was a fantastic home-like staying in a tiny town on the way from Death Valley to Yosemite!!! The family owning the hotel was extreemly welcoming!!! They recommended a wonderful restaurant with French cuisine(!!!!!!), that was a real surprise for such a small place! I had a birthday on the day of tha arrival at the hotel and the host presented me with a bottle of wine!(it was very cute! Thank you much!!!) The room has everything you need for a perfect rest! And it's really comfy:) You can also order breakfast for 6$. We did it and were very much satisfied! Would definitely stay here again!

Had dinner at the Grill - nice. Went to Lone Pine specifically to see the Movie Museum - very interesting and worth the visit. Whilst there heard about Whitney mountain Portal - a must do event if visiting (or even driving through) this town. It was fantastic being able to drive to the top of the mountain. The scenery was magnificent and well worth the drive - which took about 20 minutes to the top. Glad we took the time to investigate and enjoy this amazing spot.
A hotspot for nature lovers and hikers. Perfect base for the Mt. Whitney adventure and other day trips ore section hikes of the PCT. Also a good starting point for the JMT northbound. Good food, a lot of opportunities to resupply and good stores for hiking and mountaineering gear. Gorgeous people out there always helpful and patiened regarding any questions.
A lovely hotel with a great authentic feel to it. The rooms quite basic but comfortable for a couple of nights stay . We only stayed one night but would have liked longer to explore the town more. Had great breakfast at the Alabama hills cafe just across the street from hotel.
Fabulous place seemingly in the middle of nowhere! Amazing place to visit, full of history and an old western town. Over 500 western movies were filmed here and visit to the history museum is well worth it, lovely friendly people work there who genuinely love the town and the job they do. Scenery is magnificent with the Sierra Nevada snow topped mountain range right there! Wonderful place :D
Lone Pine is in the middle of nowhere, quite an attractive little town in its own way - looks a bit old Wild West. 3 petroleum stations in town. 2 hours easy drive to Death Valley. The Alabama Hills are a short drive from Lone Pine and well worth exploring too - plenty of good hikes there and interesting rock formations. The Museum of Western Film History in Lone Pine is good fun - they even have the original car that Champion the Wonder Horse jumped over! Visit before you explore the Alabama Hills and then you can track down the old film locations. No decent supermarket in town so make sure you stock up well before you get there. Plenty of restaurants and motels given the size of the town. We liked the Totem Cafe for dinner. Alabama Hills Cafe (also a bakery) is really popular but they close at 2pm - we had a good lunch there.
Lone Pine is a great place to head up to Mt Whitney. Beautiful views of the mountains. The BBQ Smokehouse is good if you like smoked meat but otherwise avoid it. There is also the film museum if you are a film buff.

Having three queen beds in one room was great for three women travelling together. Lone Pine is a small community so walking to a restaurant for our dinner was very easy.
