This hotel in Potomac Hills, Virginia is located 15 minutes from the Marumsco National Wildlife Refuge. The hotel features spacious suites with full kitchens, a sports court and indoor pool. The size, cleanliness of the room, and the OUTSTANDING staff.
Set in Alexandria, conveniently located just outside the entrance to Fort Belvoir Army Base, 3.7 mi from Huntley Meadows Park. Liked the fact that we could had a kitchen and a lot of space. Bed was a king and very comfy. Coutyard is very nice and you feel safe as there are no outside acces to your room
When taking the Auto Train, this is a really convenient place to stay (either before or after the trip). Very close to the station, easy to get to from I-95 or the Beltway. Accommodations were clean and the bed very comfy! Breakfast included hot pancakes (the machine that makes them is automated; fun to watch them come off the belt) Staff very friendly!
I grew up just four miles north of Lorton and remember the "olden days" when there was nothing on the present hotel/shopping site but woods. I wanted to visit the Lorton School, across the road from the facility, so this location was perfect. I also visited some remembered places in nearby Occoquan and Alexandria. It was a good location, accessible to my former home area.
What I haven't seen elsewhere is the convenience to the Lorton auto train station. If you're driving from more than 4 or 5 hours from Lorton to catch the auto train and you don't want to be exhausted when you get here, you need to come the day before. The Holiday Inn Express in Lorton is ideally located and gives you all you want an more. Price is not cheap but very reasonable.
Lorton is very family friendly. It has a lot of parks and restaurants. I recommend the Lasani kebab! I also recommend Mason Neck State Park! They have a 6 mile long paved trail through the woods. Best option if visiting DC!
Great stop for folks traveling on Amtrak (a five minute drive) or travelers on I-95 it’s jist off the exit but is quiet and there are a few small restaurants within walking distance-always a plus for me! Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We had the best hamburgers we've ever tasted at Glory Days Grill! Our waiter was efficient and pleasant. And since we had driven from Vermont to Virginia for the Auto-train, our car was a mess! Since we didn't want to put it on the train that way,we took it to the Lorton Station car wash...those people were great! A true full-service car wash, unheard of in Vermont! It was a cold, windy day but they still took time with our car, very impressive!
This hotel was very clean! The staff was pleasant and the followed CDC guidelines for CoVID19.
