La loma del chivo Na bolom has accommodations in Marathon. There's a sun terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. At the guesthouse, the rooms come with a closet. It’s a really unique place, very inspiring. Lovely decorations and colors, deck chairs and even a grill outside, star observation platform close by. Lots of nice little touches and details. It took a moment to find since it wasn’t straight through the gate marked “Loma del chivo” but you have to turn left before it. Had a wonderful desert thunderstorm in the night.
La loma del chivo-Stone Cottage(alternative building) is offering accommodations in Marathon. There's a sun terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. The perfect location, relatively close to the Big Bend park. No light pollution, so the milky way was very clear.
La Loma del Chivo- The Spirit room provides accommodations in Marathon. The property has free private parking and free WiFi. Funky, fun property. Lots of character and charm. Bohemian artist vibes which we dig. Great hosts. Definitely a unique memorable experience staying here.
Featuring free access to WiFi, Quality Inn Alpine is 0.9 miles from Sul Ross State University. A cable TV is provided in each room. Facilities are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and understanding of our odd situation Allowed us to check in early without charging. Great people! Happy to return any time!
Located less than 1 mile from Sul Ross State University, this Alpine motel offers a free breakfast and airport transfer service. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. We were surprised how quiet the room was, other places we have stayed in Alpine were more affected by train noise, or maybe we were just extra tired. We would stay here again.
Just 1 minute from Sul Ross State University, this Alpine hotel features free Wi-Fi in all rooms. A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily. The location of the hotel is great for travellers going to Big Bend. Its a little pricey but accommodation was good.
Featuring free Wi-Fi access, this motel is conveniently located just off U.S. Highway 90. A cable TV is included in each room at the Value Lodge. The room was nice and clean. It was good value for the price, I booked using Booking.com. It is a budget hotel.
Off the beaten path, Marathon is a west Texas jewel in vast ranch country. I loved that my hotel room had no TV or phone (but the wifi was excellent) and I could totally unwind ... it's such a peaceful location. Loved the historic and quiet vibe of this little town.
Zero going on in town I mean zero no breakfast at gage hotel. No restraunts except for gage, expect to pay 125.00 minimum for 2 close to 200.00 if you have a few drinks. My drink was fair and 15 dollars. Bar menu starts at 3 p.m. 25.00 chicken fried steak, 20.00 nachos. That's it. Friday night the bbq place was open!!!!. Overall if money's no object and your not very picky about what you get for it GO FOR IT . Personally for 3 nights our bill was over a thousand dollars, it just wasn't worth the price period
Marathon, Texas is a small, artsy town along with a neat hotel (the Gage) on the main road. Don't miss Gage Garden (across the RR tracks to the left), a lovely, gated space with a short, windy trail to a gorgeous rose garden and through other plantings with creative features along the way.
I'd definitely stay in Marathon again for a trip to Big Bend. Although it is an hour/hour and a half away from the park, it is a unique and enchanting little town, and staying at the Gage beats camping or any nearby lodge any day.
An interesting town with an old west feel, while offering food, accommodations, and gardens that will delight city slickers! Nice town for walking in the evening in west Texas breeze. We liked the V6 cafe very much and the French Grocery for supplies. Try the oyster nachos at the Gage's restaurant; we loved our steaks and Mexican chocolate brownies too. I'm a birder and there are several locations to see great birds. We especially liked Post Park about 5 miles out of time. We stayed at the Gage, which we love, but there is also a good, friendly motel on the west end of town if you want something a little simplier -- it appeared in the great film "Paris, Texas."
Tiny town. When your GPS says you're 2 miles away, you won't believe it because all you see is vast high desert for miles. Great stopover on the way to Big Bend. The Gage Hotel is a must. Stock up on essentials at the French Grocer and get the smoked briscuit BBQ and a craft beer at the Brick Vault! Take a stroll through the Gage Gardens after your long drive.
