It was fascinating walking around the village. Many of the buildings have dates on them as to when they were originally built. Most were in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Many of the buildings are well preserved.
Lovely little town in Massachusetts right next to Salem. My only caution would be to skip the restaurant called The Barnacle. Had a wonderful dinner at a place called The Three Cods! If looking for great donuts must go to Dandee Donuts.
We loved the quaint old homes and evident history. Abbott Hall is open to the public with no admission fee to take in some of the history of the area. The streets are quite windy and twisty through the large old homes there and this may be intimidating for some however we found it an adventure and easily made our way around where we needed and wanted to be. This only added to the character for my friend and I. We ate one evening at the Barnacle Restaurant set right on the water...the food was good and reasonably priced. The setting and atmosphere would take us back there. Marblehead is an attraction in itself though we booked here because of its proximity to Salem - about a 15 min drive away. We both would love to go back and spend more time exploring Marblehead.
Marblehead is a lovely quaint historical town. It is just perfect to stroll around the local shops and then enjoy a delicious lobster at one of many great restaurants, like the Landing. Great food and great service. Then you can walk around the historic areas of town and revisit Colonial America. It is my favorite US town.
Easily walkable town. Very quaint and cozy and full of rich history. We enjoyed both the upscale eateries and the local haunts. Easy Uber to neighboring cities and Boston/airport. Shubies was a favorite find. Old Burial Hill and neighboring parks were intriguing. Try a hermit! Yum!
The streets are narrow and a lot of one way streets, so you have to be very alert when driving. The lobster was fantastic, we ate ate Barnacles and The Landing, both very good. We are from Cleveland Ohio, so lobster is something of a novelty for us.
Loved the Inn and area, awesome stay, great Inn Keepers and staff.
