I liked that we all could have a great time in Middletown because it was relatively easy to get around and we also had access to some of our favorite places like North Kingstown and Jamestown. We ate at Brick Alley Pub in downtown Newport and had takeout from a Chinese restaurant on Rte 114. We did our own breakfast with food purchased from Stop&Shop. We didn't do any meals at the hotel. Would arrive earlier to avoid missing any of our time at the hotel !!
The hotel is located just outside of downtown Newport!!! It's a perfect distance to the beaches, downtown and shops plus restaurants. You can park in a lot and pay one price for up to 10 hours!!!! The view is simply breathtaking and worth the the travel.
Easy to get around by car in winter - not much regular tourist traffic - considering close proximity to Newport. Lots to see and do even so - weather not a deterrent. Looking forward to returning in spring/fall. Welcoming and helpful attitude of folks at local venues a big plus - and food was really good too!
A very enjoyable place to visit, nice views of the water, some beautiful mansions to see along the cliff walk and other areas, A wide selections of nice local restaurants! A very easy drive to Newport.
MIddletown itself has some sights for those visiting the area, but the reason we were there was to visit Newport. The drive is very short or you can walk from some hotels to Cliff Walk or Bellevue Avenue. Parking in Newport can be complicated if you want to explore the wharfs or Thames Street.
If you want to save a bit, Middletown is a good alternative to staying in Newport. It's only a 10 minute ride to get to the action in Newport. There are also numerous restaurants and supermarkets in Middletown if you want to economize further.
The room was very nice, clean, and spacious. We had the room that has the spa in the bathroom which was also very clean and working well. The room also had a balcony with view on the ocean! The location was perfect, a 6min drive from anywhere you want to go to, a 15min walk away from the cliff walk, and there are a few bars and restaurants walking distance from the hotel too. The staff was nice and welcoming!
Middletown
I knew from reading the reviews that the room would be older/dated. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nicely kept it was. It exceeded my expectations! Location was excellent with restaurants, package store, convenience store in easy walking distance. 5 minute drive to Newport mansions area. Parking was off-street and free. Chairs and picnic tables were on location outside to hang out.
Even though the rooms were older they were large and very clean wood floors no carpets. The hotel was an older house in town made into a hotel which made it feel like you were in old Newport area. The hotel however was very close to food and gas so you were close to modern civilization. You had both the old and new which made it more interesting they just staying in your everyday hotel.
Our nephew was getting married in Newport, this hotel was within 15 minutes of the wedding and the reception. Aaliayah at the front desk was amazing, she made sure I had a shower chair in our room, helped me find a place to have my daughter's hair done for the wedding, she was very helpful anytime I asked her for something.
The best part about the property was the location it was close to the beach also they had a restaurant right across the street that was affiliated with the hotel. It is a short drive or walk if you like to the cliff walk and also to the main area next to the fisherman’s wharf they had a lot of little stores and restaurants.
Middletown
The Rodeway Inn was very close to the center of Newport, just a mile or so away. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the breakfast was a nice surprise. This hotel was a very good value, and had obviously been updated recently. We were very comfortable, and would definitely stay there again.

Friendly staffs. Good area near by everything you need, fast foods, restaurants and supermarkets. Comfy bed, very clean and huge room. Have microwave and coffee machine in it. Lobby have free coffee n tea machine. Pets free of charges! 👍
The staff were helpful and responded quickly to any concern. The hotel well exceeded my expectations. It was clean, had a small but efficient balcony seating for two. Complementary breakfast and close to restaurants and Newport!
Location excellent - short walk into Newport - this is a family run hotel and really lovely owners - great breakfast and room was stunning. Would highly recommend this and would love to come back and stay for longer.
This is a very nice hotel in a great location. Just a few miles from downtown Newport. Also very close to Easton Beach and Cliff Walk. Very nice room..great bed and pillows. Great staff!
The reception desk lady very nice, parking place convenient, the room very clean, and nice breakfast. Choose here more worth than downtown of Middletown or Newport. Good place.
Beautiful hotel. Great location near the beach -- nice even in the middle of winter. Room was excellent and the whole experience felt safe COVID-wise.
Water in the shower was plenty hot. Room was spacious. Hotel was centrally located to other sites in the area besides Newport.
The hotel was clean and staff was nice. My kids loved the pool area and the workout room was nice as well.
Middletown
We stayed in the "tiny houses"....our family booked 4 and they all faced each other (the other ones are in rows). It was perfect for our reunion. We used the sofa beds as well. Upstairs suite feels huge.
Location is great, staff very friendly!
