The hotel hosts were exceptionally nice and called to check on us when we were late. It was no problem parking our car there overnight for a biking excursion. The room was very large and comfortable.

We really wanted to see Baxter State park, and nowhere online did I see that it wouldn't be open until May 15 (I looked). However, we did enjoy the scenery. But we could have driven through, enjoyed a couple of hours, and continued driving. I think those visiting during the summer would like spending more time. We did the NEO wildlife tour, which was very informative, and we did see a bit of wildlife. Our tour guide was great, but no moose. Sigh. They offer something every season, though. The Scootic In and Appalachian Café in Millinocket were both convenient restaurants with good food and nice people for decent prices. The Mooseshack in East Millinocket was fabulous - great in house BBQ and the owner is very friendly.

NEOC River drivers restaurant was great, the sawmill bar and grill was great, the Appalachian trail restaurant was great and the northern timber cruisers trails are awesome. Great views of Katahdin, the loggers have done an awesome job with good cuts for hunting, the roads are a little rough but they are everywhere.

I grew up there.

I grew up there. I am happy that there are some new-ish spots to eat & drink up by Millinocket Lake; both excellent. Knife's Edge Brewery (try their IPA!) Golden Road Yacht Club (bring extra money for their gift shop) Riverdriver's & Big Moose Inn are still great places up ta tha lake In town: Scootic In (great food, pizza, service) KG for takeout, cool souvenirs, etc. Sawmill (if you ever find it open, lol) I recommend South Twin Picnic area for a nice nature stop just outside town on the Brownville Road. Unfortunately, there are no watering holes up that way that I know of.

Beautiful views of Mount Katahdin and great access to southern Baxter State Park. Scoodic In and Appalachian Trail Cafe are both great places to eat at. Enjoyed two art galleries in town. Downtown is easy to walk through although sidewalks can be a little hard to walk on as they are not level.

Good location within Millinocket and convenient for Baxter State Park. On a residential street so quiet. Plenty of parking

I loved the retro vibe! So much more fun than sterile 'corporate decor' from chain hotels.
