What a lovely surprise this village was! Street market, live music, cool shops and cafes and the most laid back vibe you could imagine. Loved the outdoor swimming pool! Nice big, clean rooms.

The staff was very helpful, providing with blankets to sit on the balcony when the weather became a bit chilly. The room was very warm, dry and super clean. The morning view on the river and the foggy forest behind it was a very good addition. There is a very good coffee place just 10 minutes drive from the place if provided coffee is not enough for you. Will definitely stay again.

Everything about our stay was excellent, the rooms were cozy and spacious, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent (they really go above and beyond your typical hotel breakfast). The s’mores and outdoor movie was definitely a highlight as well !! We will be back for sure

Wow wow wow! My husband and I love travelling and visiting different places and what an amazing find this is. We were only here for one night as part of a road trip from the UK, but could have stayed for much longer. Communication was the best. This place is so well equipped - it really is home from home. The owners have thought of everything - in fact I don’t think we have ever stayed in a place as well equipped as this, and this made our stay perfect. Loved sitting on the deck listening to the wind chimes and chilling out. Thank you so much for a relaxing stay.

Exactly as described. An updated motel that was built a long time ago. Small room but perfectly done and very comfortable. Beautiful surrounds, good facilities including a pool, good eating in walking distance, and great staff. I can’t believe a strange review I saw as I booked. I would recommend this to anyone, and we will stay here again when we return to the area, from Oz. Great work Casa Secoya.

Great location, professional staff, and a comfy room. The food at the restaurant was top notch and priced for the local market. The creative ways that the redwoods are incorporated into outdoor spaces was impressive and thus the trees remained instead of being cut down.

We didn’t have big expectations, just wanted safe,...

We didn’t have big expectations, just wanted safe, comfortable lodging as we passed through on our trip. The town is incredibly charming as are the locals. The lodge is no frills and the air conditioner is loud when turned on but the 2nd floor room had exactly what we needed. I would stay again.

Redwoods and river and golf . Howard Bakery and Cafe across the street had amzing breakfast and Lattes. Beautiful warm community. The staff at the Occidental Lodge were very helpful and accommodating

Great little town in wooded valley, nice range of shops and eating places. Shout out for the Hazel restaurant with great atmosphere, warm friendly staff and great menu with everything cooked to order with fresh ingredients and the Howard Station Cafe which has a great breakfast offering. Would have loved to have stayed in Occidental for longer - but great choice of stop on our road trip of northern California.

Not much in Occidental. Very limited options.

Not much in Occidental. Very limited options. Nature walk at Old Growth Redwoods was beautiful but very short (15 - 20 mins.) Very small town and for a Saturday afternoon/evening - the City was asleep!

Quaint little town.

Quaint little town. Rider, the clerk at the motel gave us some suggestions for restaurants nearby. Everything was within walking distance. Several stores, wine tasting, and restaurants all had very friendly staff.

Love Occidental!

Love Occidental! It's a small but fun little gem with great foods and a few fun shops. What I really love is that you're in the forest but also just a few miles outside of many cities and attractions. In the general area, there are lots of beaches nearby, tons of great food, interesting shops/stores, rivers, hiking, canopy tours, beautiful scenery. It's also surrounded by several small towns that each offers something interesting: cheese tasting, local arts, seafood, wineries, kite shops, antiques, and more. It is one of our go to places when we just want to get away for a couple of days.
