Giant trees grow around the house and they are marvellous! Breakfas was good and it was waiting in the fridge. Property was well kept and it was nice that the owners lived next door and they were awailable if needed. Instructions about arrival came beforehand and they were very good.

The location is absolutely beautiful and the history of the inn is so interesting. We had live music in the picturesque courtyard with its fire pit and pretty lights and our servers at each meal plus the guy who delivered the complimentary scones each day were friendly and attentive.

Lots of options for hiking and many creeks , Shelter cove is a shot distance away and the drive to the cove is very scenic with winding roads through lush forests, not much info on the web about all the options for first time travellers

Redway is a gateway to the East edge of the Lost Coast, and that's the main reason to go there. The Lost Coast is the largest piece of land on the West coast that's on the ocean side of the coastal highways 1 & 101. If you like paved roads and ride a street bike it's the Southern start or end for a visit to a very special part of the county. The roads are twisty, hilly and often bumpy. It's just far enough off Hwy 101 to be quiet but not so far that you'd feel like you're going out of your way.

The cottage location in a redwood forest is outstanding and the Eel River right below the cottage is beautiful with nice swimming holes and beach. Breakfast for three days was a container of yogurt, some blueberries and a bag of granola so plan on bringing some breakfast supplies. The main studio area is nice. The bed is in what was probably a large closet and it is the width of the room so you climb on from the end. It is softer sprung than we find comfortable but that is personal preference. We would have preferred the bed be in the main room of the studio and had a stiffer mattress. Cookware is very basic which is not uncommon so we generally bring our own cookware. The cottage is near the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt Redwood State Park which is a gem of the California state park system. It is a reasonable drive to Eureka and Arcadia. We highly recommend the Eureka Zoo and Annie's Cambodian Restaurant.

Redway is a small country town in the hills with a few good restaurants. There is an RV park nearby and the hotel is next to a Shell station! There is nothing much to see in Redway, but the Avenue of the Giants is just a few miles away - not to be missed. It is also close to the 101 so makes for a good break in a long journey.
