The visit wasn't good we had black ants In The bathroom. The gentleman wasn't friendly. Very disappointed that the service we received Never was ask if we needed kitchen utensils we were going to cook but we ended up getting pizza
Unfortunate the road we came down was jam packed due to construction and 6 o clock traffic. But overall i like the town and there was plenty to do. We went to Wal-Mart and had to pay for our bags. I was a bit surprised when i saw the charge because i want even warned they charge. Southern NM doesn't implement that so i was kinda disappointed of the no heads up
Rio Rancho has turned into a bigger city than what was expected when it was just a development. The traffic has become congested ,the stores more crowded and the people not as friendly. I know this because family moved there in the late 70's and I have been visiting ever since. It still is better than New York City or somewhere similar, and after living in New York I would still consider moving there as a senior citizen . It still can have a slow pace if you move to the suburbs.
as mentioned several items lacking in bathroom, no map of local surrounding area showing hotel's location, breakfast buffet not a great value. hotel was very comfortable, clean, and convenient. staff very good - friendly and helpful.
We stayed in Rio Rancho for the Balloon Fiesta because everything else was sold out. There are plenty of shopping & restaurants close but the conditions of the roads in Rio Rancho are awful. We went to the balloon Fiesta but it took us 2 hours to drive 10 miles so heads up get there around 5:00 am otherwise you won't get there in time for the glow or mass ascension. We went to the Botanical Garden in Albuquerque and it was very lovely then the next day to McCall Pumpkin patch which is about an 1 hour drive from Rio Rancho. Great place to take the kids in October.
As a bargain rate hotel, you can expect old carpet and nicked and scratched woodwork, but it was clean and the breakfast was adequate. Also staying there will be travelers emphasizing low cost over luxury accommodations like the very cute, but noisy cheerleading team we experienced.
