Featuring an indoor pool and hot tub, Best Western Butterfield Inn is in Hays. Free Wi-Fi access is available and an iPod dock is featured in each room at the hotel. Its not a hotel for a long stay, bu good enough for 1 or 2 days. Hotel is clean, rooms a little old but not bad. I double checked the mattress and NO bugs, mattress was clean, fresh and new, so a positive feedback. Breakfast was a little poor. In the area a lot of good restaurants for dinner.
The Sleep Inn & Suites hotel is located near the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, Fort Hays State Historic Site and the Hays Aquatic Park. Fort Hays State University and St. One of our favorite hotels to stay at, very clean and spacious rooms. Nice staff & great location. Not serving a hot breakfast at the time, but had items for grab & go available .
Stayed here a week ago and stopping again on way home. Can't beat the price and room was clean, but bathroom could use some updating as well as carpet. Minor if just needing a place to lay your head!
Went there to visit Wilson Lake to do some fishing, swimming, exploring and picnicing. But do to all of the rain this year the lake was high and every where we tried to go the areas where closed and not. accessible. Wasn't. Much more to experience at Russell.
We stayed in Russell for only one night on our way back to Denver. It's a typical small town. There are 4 motels and 7 places to eat, all located within a mile of I-70. The Pizza Hut was quite busy, and the food was very good. We enjoyed talking with the "natives". We drove into downtown Russell (about 2 miles off the highway), but there was really nothing there. Just convenience stores, offices, a few shops, and quite a few abandoned buildings. One night here was enough...
Russell is a very small town with friendly people. It was extremely hot during our stay but there was air conditioning everywhere so it was bearable. We ate at Meridy's and it was wholesome down home cooking.
I was born and raised in Russell for 18 years which was much larger then. Great small town for kids to grow up, but not a lot of shopping or things to do these days, Came home for family and my dads birthday.
Breakfast was good, beds were clean and comfortable, bathroom was clean and shower was efficient
