    Very crowded area!

Very crowded area! We went to experience the Nights of Lights. I do realize it’s one of their busiest times of the year, but the traffic in complete gridlock was much. We had to go 15 miles and it took 2 hours and 17 minutes, with horns blowing the entire time! Restaurants were crowded and 2 out of 3 bathrooms had no toilet paper and pee all over the floors. You would tell the staff and they did not seem to care. Although when you were finally able to be seated we didn’t experience a bad meal, just a hurry and wait. The best pizza place was St. Auggie pizza, The 80.00 dollar trolley ride (you get the bench for 4)was so so you could walk and enjoy lights just as much! But it did set the mood for a jolly time, would I book trolley again no, but would be worth it for 4 people at 20.00 a piece. There’s a lot of St Augustine packed into a few blocks.

    Old St.

Old St. Augustine was a lively mix of college and older people. Walking the streets in the old part, my husband and I felt safe and had no issues. Met other couples on our walk around doing the same as us, and it was fun to hear what they loved and would recommend. We offered the same. It has been many years since my husband, and I were there, and the memories came flooding back. Many places still open, some closed, but we walked and walked and had a great time!

Our trip was cut short two nights because of this unsanitary room condition and unsafe hotel location. City and surrounded area is over populated, traffic is congested long and slow passage on the roads. Beautiful old city vistas. We left the Days Inn hotel because of room/bathroom filth, broken bed, dirty floors and dead bugs smeared on walls and dangerous location in the middle of construction location. We should be refunded for entire reservation. The Day's Inn write up is inaccurate. We are in our 80's, both cancer patients. St Augustine which was our former home, returned to see my doctor. We were not safe in the Day's Inn hotel location, it is in the middle of heavy road/bridge construction at I-95 and SR16. We did move to a much better hotel. Days Inn by Wyndham should refund our money.

A beautiful city with history, architecture and lots of museums. Take the trolley to get an overview and see the sights. Many diverse ethnic restaurants and friendly people. How about a Polish/Greek restaurant? Find it here at Gaufres and Goods. I felt safe walking around day or night, in this easy to navigate historic area. Very narrow streets and limited parking, walk! Love the repurposing of the ancient buildings.

Best to do a trolley tour to really get an idea of what you want to see. You need to drive around to realize more than just down town. Parking down town is all pay sites so you can't just stop for coffee or a meal. You need to plan to walk around. Need to get a local sights map and the streets are narrow in many places. Old town with history. Go across the bridge to see Island also.
