Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel, hotel in San Diego

Located only minutes from San Diego International Airport, world-class sailing and whale watching, this hotel offers comfort and modern amenities.

Traveled for two events, somewhat familiar with area so we knew it wasn’t the Ritz. Property and all amenities were VERY clean: fitness room, breakfast room, pool, parking garage, all halls and lobby. We’re a bit concerned about previous reviews regarding noise, but we did not experience any of that. Bed was comfortable, nice harbor view, plenty of towels and pillows, two(!) suitcase/luggage racks. Plenty of covered parking and uncovered overflow on top level of structure. Pool is in front of property, along street but feels private; set up so that passers-by cannot look in. Gym is small but functional with three cardio machines, plenty of dumbbells and towels. Did not try TV, Wi-Fi appeared fast enough for our basic needs. There was coffee and fruit available throughout the day and a warm breakfast included buffet-style scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. Also available were diy stations for toast/bagels, pancakes (cool automated maker) and burritos. More than enough coffee, tea, beverage options and seating with overflow into pool area. Entire staff was very friendly and attentive, asking if we were enjoying our stay or needed anything, also offering tips on local places and travel to event locations. You get more than expected for the price and would visit again under similar circumstances, or if traveling with children. Food was warm, not hot; wondered if warming trays were on.

The location was perfect. My balcony faced the marina and it was such a pleasure to sit in the evening and watch the sunset. The pool was nice and rarely crowded. The hotel was clean and has a restaurant/bar. The staff were friendly and the airport shuttle was an added bonus.

Breakfast was good enough, good variety. They made magic with the little space they had to offer many things. Covered parking included, kind personal. Convenient location (by car), 10m away from the airport, Balboa Park or downtown. They had tea 24/7, my family enjoyed having a tea upon arrival. Good value overall

FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

San Diego has a wide variety of attractions.

San Diego has a wide variety of attractions. The ones we like best are related to the port. There's a great harbor tour, and some lovely waterside restaurants. We ate at Point Loma Seafood, a fun, information fish restaurant on Shelter Island. The Gaslight District is excellent. This time we went to the air & space museum and were treated to a free docent tour which provided detailed explanations of the exhibits, and was very informative.

Great weather, great location. Beautiful beaches nearby. San Diego Zoo was very nice. Torrey Pines was gorgeous. Also did a coastal drive from Oceanside back down to San Diego. Spent one day over at Coronado Island and that was charming. Drove down to Hotel Del Coronado and also drove down past the military bases. Back in downtown Coronado, there were many interesting shops and eateries.

Riding our bikes around Mission Bay was awesome.

Riding our bikes around Mission Bay was awesome. We loved looking at the beautiful houses and stopping at different spots to eat or have a cocktail. The Red Marlin by Hyatt was terrible and the food was only Luke warm. The World Famous on the boardwalk had excellent food but was so busy we came back on Monday to eat there when we didn’t have to wait to get in there. So many sites to see like all the volleyball players on the sand and people having fun on there yachts close by.

I visited San Diego 20 years ago. Much has changed. Gas is now over $6 a gallon. And, there are homeless people everywhere. I was happy to get out of there, when I did. I went for Petco Park, which is a beautiful baseball stadium.

The location was great. It was right by the dog beach and although we didn't have a dog, we enjoyed walking to the beach and watching all the activity on the beach. The location to other things like stores to get groceries was also good and the room was spacious and comfortable. Parking was a plus. Also the hotel has taken the time to plant beautiful aloes and other succulents. You can tell they really pay attention to the garden. It was a delight to see.
