Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, hotel in San Diego

Featuring a beautiful rooftop pool deck and an active nightlife, this modern, music-centered hotel stands within San Diego’s Gaslamp district. Guests can borrow a free guitar during their stay.

Loved everything about this property. The location was fantastic, the rooms were great, quiet air conditioning, comfortable beds. Staff was fantastic. Service was exceptional with convenient dedicated texting concierge with quick response. They even brought us a microwave when I called in to ask if our room had one. Cruising bikes available with a $300 deposit. The whole place smelled really good upon entry. Having Nobu, Starbucks and the old spaghetti factory at its base was perfect with lots of other great restaurants up the street. Also has its own little diner and bar. In short walking distance to the beautiful pier and not too far from the midway and famous kissing sculpture “unconditional Surrender”. This was my first time staying at a Hardrock and I look forward to staying at many more. Highly recommend.

FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

San Diego has great beaches all around, temperate climate, tons of activities to choose from for all ages, and the city and surroundings are easy to navigate. In the past, we have chartered a sailboat tour of the Bay, went on a tour of the USS Midway aircraft carrier, saw the San Diego Zoo, and Seaworld. This time, we saw the San Diego Safari.

San Diego will always be my choice of vacation.

San Diego will always be my choice of vacation. I will definately be returning for more frequent visits in the future. I just got back from there and I'm already planning my next visit. Some of my favorite spots include but are not limited to are, Old Town San Diego State Park and community, Presidio Park, Museums, Balboa Park and zoo, Safari Park, Botanical Gardens, Belmont Park & Mission Beach, Sea World, Point Loma Light House, Hotel del Coronado and Beach, USS Midway, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, (I miss downtown's Horton Plaza), and so many other spots. Getting around San Diego was very easy for me since I was stationed there twice before. I would avoid visiting during any and all Pride events, Comic Con, and any other large events so that one can enjoy the city when it's not so crowded with other people, i.e. traffic, crowds, long lines, parking, wait times, etc. unless one doesn't mind the crowds nor traffic detours. Over all, my trip to San Diego was fun and I'm ready to start packing again.

Great weather and great city with a laid back atmosphere.

Great weather and great city with a laid back atmosphere. Zoo was a good day out, you probably don't have to do both Zoo and Safari park. La Jolla beaches and seal watching was worth seeing. Ocean beach was also nice and quiet midweek. Traffic was fairly good and the driving is a lot less crazy than Houston. Plenty of good restaurants to suit all tastes.

San Diego is a lovely but expensive town. Lots to do and see, but you definitely need $$. The weather along the coast is cool in the am until the mist/haze clears around noon. Architecture, flora & fauna are gorgeous.

The city was beautiful. The weather was delightful.

The city was beautiful. The weather was delightful. San Diego is a diverse city with interesting communities and beautiful beaches. We spent a day in Mexico visiting the Tecate Brewery and wine region and spent some time in Tijuana. The views in San Diego were spectacular and we toured the distinctly different communities form Coronado to Chicano Park to Point Loma to La Jolla to Mission Beach. San Diego also has a very vibrant food and beer scene. Food and drink we experienced: Hob Nob Aero Club Bar Ortega Stone Brewery La Mujares Brewery Border X Brewery Inside Out Mothership It was a super experience and can’t wait to return

My son and his wife stayed here a few months ago and highly recommended this motel. Motel is very basic but extremely clean which is a must for me when traveling. We traveled to San Diego area and Del Cornado so the location was just fine. A/C a little loud but at least it worked well. Hard to believe only 6 parking spots for hotel but we were able to find free public parking on the street. Great place to drop your bags and hit the town. Oh, can't beat the price.

We arrived earlier than check-in and the front desk representative was able to get us into a room. This allowed us more time to explore Old Town San Diego. She was so friendly and provided us with information on thing to see and do. We loved the area, hotel and all the amenities it provides its guest. We would definitely stay there again and recommend to our friends and family.
