Spruce Lodge was perfect for our stay. We stayed in the off season so it was pretty quiet but check in and out were remote and super easy. The room was a great size and had an impressive kitchen. Would recommend.

We booked the cabin just couple of days prior to arrival to Alaska and had little expectations (all other places were fully booked and quite expensive). So, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort the lodge has provided. I mean, we had all we needed - good beds, clean house, TV, WiFi, small kitchen and clean bathroom. The owner was very attentive and gave advices on some local activities. Me and my family spent wonderful couple of days in Seward and Spruce Goose lodge added to it greatly.

Very Scenic and Historic Area.

Very Scenic and Historic Area. Great for interesting and varied hikes. ** Dont miss the boat cruise on the resurrection bay! * Drive to Seward comes in close second in terms of scenery. Fave spot - views around the resurrection bay. Eat - anywhere on 4th Ave Getting around - best with car, or shuttle or just walk!

Has free shuttle bus service. Was easy to get around town. Very nice fishing community. Views are beautiful. And the history of the town is intriguing. Groceries are high. Restaurants are expensive. Everything in Alaska is expensive. Would go again to Seward. Just expect to pay a lot for groceries and eating out. There are no fast foods except Subway.

The town does not have any charm save for the 1 block by the marina (Ray’s bar&grill was a great place to dine!). Not worth spending time there other than for catching one of the multiple day/half-day cruises offered by different companies.

There's a lot to do here!

There's a lot to do here! A variety of companies offer whale and wildlife watching, or fishing charters. There's a tour that includes sled dogs and a hike to Exit Glacier. The Sea Life Center is worth a visit. And you can ride the scenic Alaska Railroad to Anchorage or Denali NP from Seward. Seward has accommodations in a variety of price ranges, and a number of good restaurants, many featuring local sea food. The town is small but worth an overnight trip.

A charming little town with a lot of amenities.

A charming little town with a lot of amenities. A lot of restaurants are closed on Tuesdays or close at 8...if you are there on a Tuesday and don't have the ability to cook for yourself, ensure you go to dinner early. The Safeway in Seward is very well stocked and open late. A walk at Exit Glacier is a good way to pass an hour (if you have a car to get there)--the trail is nicely made; people with physical limitations will find it difficult, though there is a disabled access trail for inclusion in some of the fun! Its worth stopping at the viewing spot on the road to Exit Glacier, where there is signage that explains the history of the site.

Location great for fishing.

Location great for fishing. Sadly, salmon were not in season. Halibut fishing good, rock fish plentiful. Food and lodging very expensive. Hard to find a meal for less than $50 for an entree. Seward is beautiful, close to Exit Glacier.

Quite a surprise. It's more than just a hotel or an apartment. It's like that room your best friend lends you when you come to visit, but without having to rely on the main house. The option to use the kitchen, however, is a real bonus. The balcony, the attention to detail... If you add to all that the kindness of the owners and a perfect location for the most iconic spot in Seward, there's really nothing to complain about.
