Be careful of taxi drivers. overcharging you. No traffic, fresh air and nice and easy going for a city.. Glacier and wildlife tour by cruise was great. There are no reptiles in Alaska. The only thing wrong is that they have numerous earthquakes daily. I could retire there!
I overnight from a cruise. It is nice and the museum is a must see if you have time. My hotel was in walking distance to downtown which was great. I had the roasted beet ice cream at Alaskan ice cream downtown, it was great. I had dinner at the slippery Salmon it was just Ok.
Nice little town Spit area is great Loads of tours to see wildlife, glaciers, fishing Easy to navigate around Homer Highly recommend alaska bear adventure team!!
Enjoyed the Museum. Walking around was very easy Very friendly people Arrived mid October. Lots closed for winter so felt we missed out a lot especially Alaska a Heritage museum
Fairbanks is a winter wonderland!! Lovely helpful locals. Aurora chasing and dog sledding with 1st Alaskan Tours was brilliant. Hired appropriate winter gear from the fabulous Alaska Element. Cannot recommend them highly enough!!
Anchorage was a 3 day stopover after arriving in Alaska from a cruise and continuing to tour Canada. It suited our needs and the stay was plenty. City didn't seem to offer much although we would highly recommend the Anchorage Museum which was excellent.
Anchorage is well located as a base for a week-long trip. We also stayed overnight in Denali (Healy) and could have stayed overnight in Seward had we more time. The town seemed quiet but you could find activities, shopping, and good food if you looked. There are many shopping options downtown. The Coastal Trail was pleasant to walk on. We liked eating at Pho Lena, Mama O’s, and Revolving Sushi Bar, the first downtown and the latter two near Northern Lights Blvd and Spenard, not far from Carr’s (Safeway) grocery store. We also enjoyed the Alaska Heritage Center visit to learn about native peoples. Easy Park provided cheap and safe parking downtown.
We had a perfect travel to Anchorage after cruising from Vancouver to Seward Alaska. We rented a car. Beautiful scenic drive. We visited the beautiful Anchorage Museum, Aurora Theater, the Mall, etc. It takes awhile to get used to drive around one-way streets.
I liked the scenery, the trolley bus tour was informative and fun, the markets on Saturday had interesting food. The museum had interesting art, and thought provoking special exhibitions as well as a fascinating dinosaur exhibition and history of Alaska display. The coastal walk and bike trails showed a completely different city to the taxi route. The hospital was efficient and sorted out our medical problem very well. Restaurants were excellent.
Loved the trip in on the Alaskan State Ferry. No public transport from ferry terminal though. Share a taxi is best . Total cost is $40. Great walks and tourist shopping in Juneau! Be prepared for the arrival of 4 cruise ships every day!

Our stay was simply incredible! The location is beautiful just outside of Homer on a cliff. Our apartment was on the top floor with our own hot tub on the balcony. It was very secluded and quiet! We loved the decoration of the apartment and all the attention to detail! We even had a wonderful fireplace and everything was just so cosy! The owners were very friendly and helpful and we got a lot of recommendations for dinner places. If we ever come back to Alaska, this is the place to stay!

It was all beautiful! It was great to meet the owener..he told us evertything about his experiences as a photographer and reporter. The place is something that makes you really feel the "taste of Alaska". He built up every cabin by himself and you really feel the love he put in building all this place. If you look for a 5 star standard hotel don't come here. But if you look for an EXPERIENCE you must come! Thanks a lot!!!! Greetings from Italy :)

The location by the lake to watch the sunset and floatplanes is lovely, the close proximity to the airport is why we chose here. Please note that we had also previously stayed in a downtown hotel so that we could wander around easily. Comfortable, spacious, modern, clean rooms. The bar on the deck was a great way to watch the sun go down on the last evening of our Alaska holiday. The free shuttle on the half hour to and from the airport was efficient.

the hotel is a BW: you know what you get and pay for... and that's no bad news, especially in Alaska. the building is located in a quiet neighborhood, and with a 20 walk you can reach the ferry terminals. the hotel is big, but quiet and very well kept. the room was large, fairly clean and comfy. we found all the services needed: wifi, laundromat, breakfast. breakfast is good, in a very typical "Best Western" style.

The facility overstated their services and gave a false impression of the atmosphere provided from their add on the inter-net. The photo of their add showed a sitting room that looked to be Alaskan. However, nothing about this hotel was alaskan. I complained about the inter-net not working in my room. It would consistently cut off. I had to go to the office (if it was open) to log in to a wi-fi connection.

Very nice hostel if you are chosing it to start your travel in Alaska. It's a great place to meet people who are finishing their trip or who a beginning it. I really enjoyed my 3 times there. And i heard it's the best of Anchorage so far from other travellers who went to other hostels downtown. You have also next to Basecamp a lot of shops for adventures and food !

This hotel provides an excellent service at great value. Excellent cooking facilities in our room, great location close to town, public services and also amenities such as excellent late night supermarkets. Really excellent personalised shuttle service which is always a bonus in Alaska as public transport networks can br limited. We stayed twice and would return.

The hotel's reception wasn't operative when we arrived but they left every information there for us on a letter. The room was spacious and traditional Alaskan (moose and reindeer bed covers). We didn't take advantage of the breakfast facilities so I cannot rate that. There were 4 Wi-fi options and that represents a strong point of the hotel.
8.7 Fabulous 73 reviews
Clean, large suite with fully stocked kitchen, laundry and bathroom. We fled the Alaskan Hotel and Bar after 2 nights and literally took refuge here, for just 10 bucks more a night. What a deal. We walked everywhere from there, although it is not central to downtown Juneau, 8 blocks is easy. We even walked to the theater on Douglas Island.

very nice, kinda high end for us, but worth it. easy walk from train station and to cruise ship terminal. 30 min walk to the main historic town. we were on alaska railroad to Seward, then cruising southbound. the hotel has 2 sets of washer/dryer, been traveling for a week, we used them with good results. breakfast was very good.

It’s ok overall. Not anything you would rave about but nothing too terrible either. As far as value for money goes it’s a similar price to some of the 4 star hotels in Anchorage so you take your choice. Handy for Alaskan train. Walking distance. Also walking distance ( uphill ) to several good restaurants and bars within 10 mins

It's a great hotel for groups, traveling to Alaska and leaving the next day. If you want to spend time in Anchorage, then stay downtown but most people don't come to Alaska to see Anchorage so stay here. Free shuttle, right the airport, but Lake Hood Sea Plane Base and can be super loud so don't plan on sleeping in.

This Hotel is situated ideally in the middle of the city. It is a real old building with quite some flair and atmosphere, room was pretty small, but cosy, bed was superb(!), staff was friendly. If we would have in mind to travel to Juneau again we definitely would try to book the Alaskan again.

Ended up staying a second night at this great hostel in Anchorage. I ended up needing an extra day to prepare for my forthcoming Alaskan adventure. Staff were very accommodating & I was comfortable during my stay.

Quite easy to find. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was good staff very attentive. Hard to get information from front desk. Found out from tour guide that this was the only hotel to survive the 1964 alaska earthquake.
8.4 Very good 621 reviews
It is a big hotel but still has that local alaskan feel. everything you need is in walking distance but there's no trouble parking. The rooms are fine - a little dated but in good order. Breakfast was good.
9.2 Superb 31 reviews
Very comfortable during the stay. DIY check in. The apartment is nicely decorated with Alaska particulars. You can see decorations of bears, mooses, fishes everywhere. Wish to stay longer here.

Friendly staff, really passionate about the hotel and wanting to improve it and have it stand out. Little breakfast packs and location to Alaskan railroad terminal.
