Everything! The decor was beautiful and everything was clean and functional. The location was perfect for walking the downtown and the snack bar fit my needs very well. Staff were amazing and a big shout-out to manager Kyle for helping me out when I needed it! Would definitely recommend the Aviator and would love to return when the brewery, bar, coffee bar and more open up!

Good morning, Merrill Field Inn, Thanks for making our short visit to Anchorage a comfortable and personable experience. This first time to Alaska, two nights at Merrill Field Inn to get acclimatized and to look around the city before cruising down to Vancouver, turned out to be exactly what we needed and made possible, not only with great accommodations, but with the personal attention of all your excellent staff. I never figured out who was in charge, who was responsible for breakfast, who cleaned the rooms, who did the maintenance, etc. It was just a friendly, efficient and, I have to say again, “comfortable” experience. However, another “best feature” of our visit was the free airport pick up after midnight and the “quite a few” additional free shuttles all over town and a return to the airport later. Our first driver (let’s call her “Lilliana”), even at the late pickup hour gave us a welcome introduction to the city, while our other driver (probably a “Dave”) took us wherever we needed to go, with a great attitude, good advice and everything you would expect from a friend or relative whom you had not seen for a long time; and the wheelchair was never a problem. So, the Merrill Field Inn: good room, accommodating staff, very nice people, and where we would stay, “if we ever pass that way again”.

I was unexpectedly and pleasantly surprised by my stay at Americas Best Value Inn and Suites but it might very well be one of Anchorage's best kept secrets😁 It was actually my best experience of any of the hotels (or motels), I stayed at during my week in Alaska (Anchorage and Palmer). I was given a hugely spacious room (which, was actually a self-catering apartment suite). My experience was peaceful during the time I was there. The hotel provides a simple breakfast and a free shuttle service to the Ted Stevens International airport (which, is only a convenient 10 minute journey from the hotel on Spenard Road). There are a number of additional food services nearby (within walking distance; including, a lovely, cozy little Cafe/bookstore which, I visited on one drizzly afternoon whilst I was there).

We were only there passing through to another itinerary.

We were only there passing through to another itinerary. It had amenities. Homless people at the bus terminal were semi agessive in approaching us while waiting for our interior bus ride to Tok. City seemed pretty clean. Had good restaurant's. Roads were good. Location of travel amenities (taxi, to and from airport) were easy to coordinate without pre planning planning.

We (myself and extended family) were attending my grandson's wedding at Alyeska and rented 4 VRBO's in Girdwood. Overall, everyone was satisfied with their lodgings and enjoyed the beauty of Girdwood and Alyeska. It's definitely worth the visit! Although it is a small town, there are enough cafe's and stores to satisfy without losing the frontier feeling of Alaska. Lots of good hiking and places to eat.

We enjoyed fishing in Turnagain Arm.

We enjoyed fishing in Turnagain Arm. We viewed mountain goats and moose along the Arm. We toured Wildlife Conservation Center which was enjoyable. Aleyska ski resort was a close drive and Virgin Waterfall was a quick hike. Whittier was close and we saw Prince William Sound. This was all within half hour of Bear Creek. We ate at Brown Bear Saloon Burger and fries. Most food we purchased at Walmart in Anchorage and brought with us to Brown Bear - Complete kitchen. There were not many restaurants along Turnagain Arm. We did not want to commute back and forth to Anchorage.

We were there overnight before a cruise, there was 2 coffe shops within one hundred metres , plenty of eating places for dinner within walking distance and the cruise shuttle left from a space 10mins walk away. so all good for us.

Beautiful area and great hikes.

Beautiful area and great hikes. The folks at the grocery store are very friendly, the local brewery is great and the food trucks supplied awesome dinner. We have travel with our 1 y old and liked it all. We managed to hike Mt Alyeska, visit Portage Glacier, hike Exit glacier from Seward and took a day cruise from Whittier.

We just used Anchorage as I hub for travel to the south and north; didn't see much except the airports and area around the Civic Center downtown where we got on a bus for Talkeetna: bought some groceries while there; the area seemed nice; clean, safe, quiet.

GIrdwood is a sweet location.

GIrdwood is a sweet location. Not far from Anchorage and a great place from which to have a day trip to Seward and the Kenai Fjords. I recommend those flying in to Anchorage to spend a few days here before heading to Anchorage. A great way to start a vacation in beautiful Alaska!
