Townsend is a nice small town. It has everything you need and serves as a great location for visiting Tremont and Cades Cove. Our favorite place from lunch was Good Vibes on the River and for dinner Peaceful Side Social Brewery & Craft Kitchen (PSS). They have the the best pizzas and other foods. Our favorite was the Fig & Pear with arugula & ricotta with balsamic glaze. Maybe the best pizza we have ever had!
I'm glad we stayed in Townsend. It's much quieter than Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. There could be more variety of places to eat, but coming off the pandemic, I can understand why this is a challenge. The town was an excellent jumping off point for traveling Tennessee's curving roads, and the Smokey Mountains.
We used to live in Knoxville and traveled down to Townsend often for day trips. Moved out of state and when looking to visit the Smokies, we instantly thought of Townsend because it’s away from all the crowds of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Love the serenity of the place and the small town country feel.
A gem of a city nestled in the foot of the smokies, away from the busy cities, yet at the heart of all the attractions, in a serene town. Don't miss an Amercano at the Artistic bean. Purchase quick groceries at the Dollar store and meals in Pigeon Forge, plan to order meals an hour before you want to eat, it's busy at the holidays. , Don't miss the Feris wheel while you there. Take a drive on US 441 into Cherokee, . Abhrams and Laurel falls is a must if you up for a long hike. Take a day trip into Gatlinburg, drive up Campbell lead road to get an eagles eye view of the city.
Nice little place to get away from absolutely everything! About a 30 minute nice drive to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. About 20 minutes from Cades Cove. Shops all along the way and lots of curves! I recommend eating at Five Oaks, google it and get on the waiting list, the wait and cinnamon roll is well worth it!
Townsend is my favorite place to stay on the Tennessee side of the Smokies. Quiet community without the gimmicks and attractions of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. If your intent is to see the national park, then stay in Townsend.

The property was well within the city center I was looking for. The room was pretty good and clean. Nothing luxurious though. I liked the bed compared to the other hotels.
The staff was awesome, very friendly and tried their best to accommodate, I don't know why the hotel itself was just not up to par.
