It's a sweet little postage stamp of a town with good food and drink options in addition to being on the way to the coast. It's also a short and scenic drive from Sebastapol if folks want to venture into a larger city with a few more things to do. Rocker Oysterfella's is definitely worth stopping by for a meal or a drink. We didn't eat at the Creamery, but the food looked great as well, as did the cheese and other dairy products.
Historic Very small Inn, immaculate, wonderful linens, comfy bed, cozy decor. Great Coffee and tea available ,self serve day and night. Sadly missed eating at the on site restaurant, because we got there after 8:30 pm. Breakfast across the street, really good. Definately would stay there again.
We stayed on a Wednesday night when the resteraunt close by were closed . As we had driven a long way we did not feel like another 10 Mike drive for dinner . The smoked salmon and cheese purchased from the deli opposite was all we needed. Luckily we had a bottle of Pinot noir in the car .
It is the right location for an unplugged retreat. There is so much to explore in the area yet it feels off the beaten path. We combined a conference at Sonoma State with beach time in Bodega Bay (be sure to eat at the Fishetarian for best ever fish & chips). The Dunes State Park had long sandy beaches and easy access.
We found that Tuesday and Wednesday are bad nights for eating out in Tomales and Bodega Bay area as a large percentage of the restaurants were closed those days. The roads were good and traveling around was easy.
Nice hotel, lots of history and very conveniently close to everything. A restaurant and Bar downstairs (But wasn't open when we were there) A great Italian restaurant down the street made up for it :) Nice Market across the street where we bought wine and cheese for snacks. Bodega bay a mile away and great hiking trails to the Beach. The staff needs to organize check in better but other than that it is a great place to stay, we will return.
