Located on Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, The Jacaranda Inn was originally built over 100 years ago as a bunk house for plantation ranch hands. Jacaranda Inn has an interesting history tied to the early ranching days in Kamuela (Waimea). The rooms are updated, but decorated with style of the old days. Our room was clean, comfortable, large; and had a huge jacuzzi tub and shower area. It's at 3000 foot elevation, so it's cooler than coastal Hawaii, so the temperature was perfect during our stay.
Located at the base of Mauna Kea Volcano, this upcountry Waimea lodge has cable TV with HBO movie channels. Hapuna Beach is a 15-minute drive away. The location. Easy to find. Stores close by. We checked in after office hours, but it was nice to know we could still get in to our room. Very convenient
We enjoyed our short stay in Waimea at the Jacaranda Inn. Convenient minutes w/in town. Atmosphere great! Accommodations great! Loved it! Loved the Parker Square cute little shops and locals that are super friendly. Ate across the street, at Merrimans. Walked around Waimea within the town. Loved it, air was crisp and clean.
We have lived in Kailua Kona more than 45 years so we can go to Waimea any time but have never stayed there. There is so much to see and do and it is just a very special town. Anna’s Ranch is there Parker Ranch , and full of wonderful people. Great location for beach , Hilo, Kona.
Everything about Waimea is awesome. Hawaiian Style cafe is a must. Waimea coffe is awesome Paniolo restaurant good food. The locals and visitors were friendly which probably can be attributed to the relaxed atmosphere and the beauty that is Waimea.
Waimea is my favorite place on the Big Island. It is old-timey cowboy country meets Hawaiian tradition. Gorgeous surroundings, nice people, and plenty of excellent restaurants and shops. Merriman's is a must for a wonderful fine-dining experience. If you want a more casual bite, the food court in the Parker Center (especially Yum Yum) is awesome too! For a romantic and VERY scenic drive, head off to Hawi (only 17 miles away) and check out some of the local artists in the town's several galleries.
Waimea Kauai, has the Best Jeweler in the State! Sea Shell Diamond Gallery! At the Historic Waimea Theater. Where you can get the original Diamond in Koa Rings in Gold. Not a cheap knock off! Locals eat at Yumi's Restaurant at the Theater for breakfast and lunch. Wranglers steak house is a favorite for dinner. Visitors should also check out the Waimea Landing and Russian Fort. Jo Jos shave ice is a great place for a sweet treat. The best way to get around is by walking!
We had dinner at the Red Water Cafe and it was excellent! Guava glazed ribs were delicious.... unless you eat a huge amount, the half portions will be plenty!!! Then we had lunch at the Hawaiian Style Cafe.....we had to wait about 20 minutes to get it...its VERY popular with local people...and for good reason. Again, HUGE portions and delicious food.

The view of the hills surrounding the place was great. The room was very spacious and homey. There were cereal, soy milk, and muffins provided in the fridge. Waimea gets pretty cool because of the hills and the fog, but the room's temperature was fine. The B&B is close to 2 shopping plazas and restaurants. Good jump off point for driving to North Kohala and Waipio.

The beds were comfortable and room was very large. It's an older hotel but adequately well maintained.
