River's Edge Resort is located in downtown Winthrop, Washington. The accommodations here provide guests with a private deck with a hot tub. Loved the private hot tub and the kitchenette inside the cottage. Close location makes it easy to walk downtown for food shopping drinks etc. Will be returning for certain.
Duck Brand Hotel & Cuisine offers free WiFi and rooms with air conditioning in Winthrop. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. You have to go to the restaurant downstairs to check in. Check-in was quick. The room was updated and had air conditioning. The bed was super comfortable. Even though we were directly above a restaurant, we couldn’t hear anything. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.
Methow River Lodge features river views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Winthrop. Unfortuantely the breakfast was closed, so we couldn't enjoy it. Nice rooms with beautiful view. Would love to stay here during snowmobile season, but I don't believe you have enough parking for our 3 place covered snowmobile trailer.
Featuring a spa center, Sun Mountain Lodge offers accommodations in Winthrop. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. Very luxurious and the view from my room (King Robinson) was spectacular. Even saw deer in the morning!
Located 0.6 mi from the center of Winthrop, this inn offers gorgeous sunset views of the Cascade Mountains. It offers rooms with free WiFi. Ski passes are available on site. We were upgraded to a very nice one bedroom unit, with all the facilities we needed. It was a very nice, if too brief, stay. We will look into returning when we can spend more time. The owner was very pleasant and helpful.
Located in Winthrop in the Washington State region, Winthrop Mountain View Chalets features accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. We were fortunate to be in Cabin #1 for 2 reasons: it was the unit that had been renovated and it was very nicely appointed. We liked having the kitchenette since it was easy to make breakfast before heading out on our pack trip early Sunday morning. (Withrop has little to offer for breakfast, period!, let alone before 7am.) Also, the cabin was the farthest from the main highway which helped with noise control. We'd definitely stay there again.
We did not spend much of our time in Winthrop. We were visiting family near by. However, Winthrop was a fun little town. The Rocking Horse Bakery in town was Amazing! We enjoyed the bookstore, and Three Finger Jacks for dinner.
It's your typical tourist trap small town that charges $35 for a cheeseburger & a beer, carbon-copy souvenir shops and a couple wineries. It takes about 5 mins to walk from one side to the other of downtown. I guess if you're REALLY into the western theme and like the facades/wooden sidewalk thing, it's worth a day trip. Otherwise it's an overpriced basecamp to explore the area-- there are cheaper options without the tourist surcharge.
I think Winthrop is great for active people that like to hike, float rivers, Bike etc. We were looking for a quiet place to spend a few days. We spent more time in Twisp as it didn't seem as tourist oriented. The main part of town is the definition of a tourist trap.
Being horse owners we went for the western theme of Winthrop. Not many restaurants open , Covid related, but we visited the grocery store. More western restaurants needed. Talking with the locals it’s obvious the town is in the site of Big city visitors and instead of horses it will be bicycles taking over. An invasion of some sort that will diminish that country western feel. Hope not !
Winthrop is a western themed town with many shops and restaurants to dine at. Lots of outdoor activities as well. From cross country skiing to riding bikes in the snow there is something for everyone. Walking paths along the river to enjoy the beautiful scenery. If viewing wildlife is something you like, the deer that hang around town will be an added bonus to your trip!
I have been coming to the Methow Valley for 35 years. I generally stay outside of Winthrop - usually in Mazama as I prefer the quiet beauty of areas away from Winthrop, Winthrop is a great place to shop for what you need for a long stay in the valley - better ski shops than on the West side, groceries, coffee, a drug store etc. If you want the amenities, Winthrop has good food and shops. I do not particularly like staying in Winthrop. For me it is simply not as spectacularly beautiful as the more rural areas of the valley and highlands.
