Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity
With delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.
Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theater, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.

Speedboat trip from District 1 peer to Cu Chi Tunnels was fantastic and cut-out sitting on a hot bus for several hours. 50kph up the Saigon river for approx. 1 hour, breakfast on boat and beautiful lunch in restaurant following guided tour of tunnels, then 1 hour blast back downstream. Total excursion is approx 5 1/2 hours and well worth the money.

The humidity in Saigon is much less than Hanoi / North Vietnam, so I was more comfortable here than there. In general HCMC is a big , noisy city with tons of traffic. I think you would need a few weeks to really "find" HCMC but I dont think I want to spend that much time there. Apart from the humidity I prefer Hanoi of the 2 biggest cities in Vietnam.
The War Remants Museum is a sad but interesting place to visit.

Saigon does not have many characteristics like some other cities, but it is the greatest eating place on earth for me. The coffee may be strong for some foreigners, but the best for me. Lucky, did not get much rain or flooding. The heat was OK in late October.

We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City.
We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City. We do not care about the air pollution and the traffic noise of the motorcycles. It was difficult to cross streets due to there were no traffic lights for pedestrians.
We enjoyed the trip to the tunnels to witness the wartime Vietnamese defense strategy and apparatus.
We won't recommend the Mekong Delta trip. It was a 4-hour round trip drive, but there was not much to see except the candy factory and the channel ride and to hear some local singing and fruit tasting.

HCMC is a very busy and exciting destination, especially for those on a mission seeking gastronomic diversity and the highest standards of culinary arts. It is a shoppers paradise, made the more attractive through the work of young fashion designers, thousands of market stalls and small specialist businesses. It boasts a high energy population that inspires interest and admiration for its enterprise and efficiency, but the people you meet are also characteristically honest, gracious and generous in their dealings with tourists.

Nice little hotel in the backstreets of Ho Chi Minh District 1. It's pretty basic but perfect if you want to be in the city center and explore the city during the day and night. Just 2 streets away from noisy and crowdedly Bui Vien Food Street, but incredibly quiet, The staff was very helpful, simple but good breakfast in the morning. After the check out we left our luggage till the evening flight home.
I recently stayed at Vilion Boutique Hotel in District 1 and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a vintage theme, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
Soho Central Residence was a great choice for my stay in Ho Chi Minh City. The apartment offered breathtaking views of the city and was in a prime location in District 1. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and I appreciated the modern design. It’s perfect for anyone visiting the city for business or leisure
The staff were really friendly from our arrival and we received juice and fruits whilst waiting to check in. The location is excellent in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City and we were able to walk to the sights across the city.
