The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our stay included breakfast, which exceeded our expectations and on Christmas morning we were treated to a beautiful buffet, the staff went out of their way to make our morning special. Clanwilliam is a pretty town, and well placed for simply relaxing, or exploring the West Coast of South Africa as well as the Northern Cape. Area is renowned for ancient rock art at various sites. Perfect as a base for the Namaqualand wild flower season between August and September every year.

We have visited Clanwilliam frequently and have always enjoyed our stay there. We were disappointed in our choice of stay this time as we felt that no one other than Peter, the Malawian assistant, was at all interested in whether we were there or not and that very little thought had been put into making guests feel comfortable or welcome.

We were very well treated by everyone in Clanwilliam and had we not been having car problems we would have stayed longer to explore the nearby Biedouw Valley flowers and the Clanwilliam Gardens and big Dam.

absolutely terrible from the car parking being unsafe ,vagrants at door , dark ,smelly reception . The receptionist was kind and polite . walking to the rooms the corridor was dark and dingy , the rooms were so old fashioned , needs a good pot of paint and bathrooms were from the dark ages ,mouldy and off white .

I know Clanwilliam well over many years.

I know Clanwilliam well over many years. It is a good base but we were there just one night so no time to visit Ramskop or browse the shops. It is a goos base especially in the flower season. Sadly we missed the Annual Flower Show which I always enjoy. Our stay in 3 Leipolt Street was very comfortable and i commend our host for her friendly welcome and seeing us off. Added touches were noted such as the bottle of wine, rooibos tea, rusks. Recommended a very upmarket restaurant across the street - we had an excellent meal there with an extra careful waiter - new on the job and from Wuppertal, so good to employ local staff and train them.

Besides going to view the flowers (which was the main reason for going) and visiting the Gaol House/ Museum, with a super enthusiastic guide, there was not much else to see or do. There were no quaint shops to visit and everything was closed on the Sunday. The only restaurant choice was the Hotel.

It is a great little hotel for the traveler or family, with a decent size swimming pool and big enough, clean rooms. The only thing that was a concern is that the dining room was not available for dinner. BUT...... the GM made a plan to get his chef back on site and prepare a tremendous meal for the 4 of us. Despite the full hotel, the GM was on-hand to make sure his guests was taken care of. Thank you so much for that true South African "n boer maak n plan" attitude at the hotel.

As good as the facilities and room were the best thing about our stay was Ashley, the owner. She was born to be in the hospitality business. She went way out of her way to make our stay in Clanwilliam not a good stay but a great stay.

Wow, what a surprise in Clanwilliam. We had the luxury of the main house with ample space and top end appliances. The Smokehouse restaurant on the property is also highly recommended
