This was our second stay at the Happy Jackal. The name is just so appropriate as we have always been happy there. Its quite impossible not to be happy in the company of the most charming hosts, Peter and Liz who have not changed one bit since our first visit in September 2012. We must admit that we are guilty of spending every opportunity inside Addo as we just cannot get enough of the wild life. We should probably have spent more time exploring the dunes and the other attractions and I guess its a good enough reason for another visit as soon as that is possible. We did have dinner at the Elephant Footprint and it was an equally enjoyable experience as everything on the menu was so well prepared and tasty. Sometimes Cape Town just seems too far from the Eastern Cape as we love it so much. Till next time......... Noel & Delia Furlong
Colchester has nothing to offer by itself BUT is ideally located at the south point of Addo Elephant Parc and a mere 1 km from its entrance. Moreover, the private Schotia game reserve is only 15 min. away. We highly recommend the Tooth & Claw drive.
“Very comfortable homely feel, very friendly host who was happy to make suggestions about our onward journey. We were encouraged to self drive through Addo on our way to our next hotel and it was a fantastic experience. Enjoyed a sunset walk along the Sundays river too which is accessible from the back garden.”
“The breakfast was perfect, lovely people and good food. Location is good, near the secondary entrance gate for Addo National Park, Colchester is small little town with two restaurants.”
“The owner of the Guest House was absolutely lovely. Back garden was right on the Sunday's River. Breakfast was excellent too. ”
