Loved Franschhoek but 2 or 3 nights here would probably be enough as town is lovely but small. A great base for doing the winre tram and visiting the various wineries but many can also be reached just as easiliy from Stellenbosch which seemed a little livelier and more going on. Liked the market with drinks and music. Drivers take note the pass into Franschhoek (the R45 from the R43 or R321) is closed 0900-1700 weekdays until the end of Feb 2024!

    Franschoek is a gem!

Franschoek is a gem! Fabulous places to stay, a most beautiful Main Street with so much character, beautiful shops and restaurants, and the Wine Tram. This runs like clockwork and is a perfect way to visit several wine estates without needing to use your car. The estates are fabulous and you stop as long as you like, hopping on the next tram when you are ready!

The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely.

The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely. Would also recommend a visit to the Pigcasso winery - I know this seems weird for those there for the wine and food but for some reason the place is very nice and chill. If you are in town on Sunday, the markets were great and you could get coffee and listen to music. I would suggest hiring a car particularly if your hotel is not in the main street. But there is a tram which takes you to the different vineyards and seemed very regular. As to vineyards, we had a lovely breakfast at Boschedal winery.

Tourist town beautifully situated in a valley with towering mountains on either side. Plenty to do with wine estates, biking, the wine tram, restaurants, drives, hikes and shops. Stellenbosch is an easy drive to include while staying there. We stayed in a self-catering apartment in the middle of a three week trip and loved eating in for a change. There is a large Pick-n-Pay with all you need at very good prices. It is an expensive town: market souvenirs were 50% higher to double the cost of the same in Stellenbosch, the shops are high end, and the restaurants similarly priced. This is offset by the lovely feel and the valley.

Franschoek is French vineyards/countryside in the Cape.

Franschoek is French vineyards/countryside in the Cape. Amazing wines. Amazing food and views for days. There are also hiking and mountain biking trails. Many of the farms and accommodation is pet friendly (but check first) and my favourite is Hey Joe Brewerey.

Lovely town, found it a bit overpriced but assume that’s because of the tourist target market. Enjoyed walking around during the day and it’s got a great vibe during peak seasons. Highly recommend a meal at The Station Pub, their food was top notch. Definitely do a wine tram tour while you are there for a fun day out tasting wines, it was a great experience.

Located behind the famous Reuben's restaurant just off Franschhoek Main Road, the Franschhoek Boutique Hotel is in the perfect location for any travellers who are looking to explore this quaint town on foot. The room was well-appointed, the mini bar stocked and the sheets a high thread count. What's more, the en suite bathroom had a spacious shower and bath. Although I didn't have time to have breakfast, the spread that had been laid out in the dining area in the morning looked and smelled delicious.

A wonderful hotel and very friendly and attentive hosts who always go above and beyond. We had a very beautiful and clean room, all the interior design elements were well chosen. The entire interior of the hotel well conveys the atmosphere of the city of Franschhoek. The hotel is well located. If there are not enough spaces on site, there is free convenient parking very close. The breakfast is amazing, very tasty and beautifully presented.

This hotel is perfectly situated in Franschhoek! It is also a few 100 meters from the wine tram station & restaurants which is amazing as you don't have to drive anywhere! The bedrooms are very comfortable with aircon and comfy beds! It is also super convenient that Hussar Grill is on the property (breakfast is also served there) and there was a wide selection of options and really delish options too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The location was perfect! Right in the center of town and perfect for accessing everywhere in Franschhoek. The flat is gorgeous and has everything you need for the weekend. The art, furniture and décor is stunning and very high-end. Everything is impeccably done. The beds are lush and the shower is huge. You are surrounded by brilliant places to eat, many art galleries, shops and museums.

Beautiful, comfortable room. Linen was soft and luxurious, and the bathroom was big and comfortable. The room is beautiful and while it's not the biggest has great features like a delicious coffee machine. Within walking distance from downtown Franschhoek, which means you don't have to worry about parking in this always-busy area.

The location - just outside of town but very walkable - was nice and quiet. The grape vines all around let you know you’re in Franschhoek and there are beautiful views all around. Parking was easy and staff were amazing. They had a fire going and comfy couches to sit on at the end of the day along with an honor bar.
