Located in Graskop in the Mpumalanga region, Dar Amane Guest House provides accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, warm and accommodating. The room was tastefully decorated, large, clean and comfortable. Excellent lighting. Fabulous breakfast. This is the first time I rate anything 10 on booking
Lots to do although we were taken in at the Waterfalls where we were charged R15 each and I think it was a sewerage place. The guys selling stuff in the streets pestered a lot, they were really bad. The food at the restaurants was excellent and mostly very reasonable, one or two restaurants were a bietjie too expensive, their prices were higher than in Jo'burg. Potholes were very bad travelling there and back. But beautiful part of South Africa.
Lovely town with yummy pancakes at Harry's and cute little local shops which we got quite a few souvenirs from as well as fruits and nuts from the locals. Small town with a few places to explore around - wish we stayed longer to go do the Graskop Lift as it was fully booked on our days but enjoyed all the waterfalls and beautiful scenery on the drive.
The hotel rooms must be renovated (please indicate what is your star rating). The bill must be sorted on time i.e prior to the guest's arrival. I didn't appreciate bill adjustment when i walk through the reception 2 day after checking in (extremely unprofessional and damages your brand). Hotel rooms must be cleaned in the morning not at 15H30 in the afternoon (you must sort out staff shortage if that is the problem. Considering your clientele one would have expected covered parking.
If you love nature, then a trip to Graskop should definitely be on your list. There are countless waterfalls, beautiful mountain ranges, panoramic viewing sights, and natural landmarks galore within a relatively small radius. Because of its location, you also have the option of driving to Hazyview where you will find more activities and sights (Elephant Sanctuary, Crocodile Farm, Reptile park etc...) or to the Kruger National Park... In the opposite direction, you can go to Sabie and Pilgrims Rest.
My expectations regarding the area were mostly met just had challenges with the weather. Potholes all over . Roads maintenance is zero. Imagine driving early morning in a mist with some potholes big to damage a tyre. In some areas there's a board making you aware of potholes ahead
Please watch out for the potholes. Although I see there are some road works in progress on the main tourist roads. The main town roads are riddled with Potholes, but this can be avoided if you are careful. My main visit to the town was to experience the Graskop Lift. This is a world class facility, and the meals were amazing at the restaurant. Value for money, and a truly educational experience. You should visit at the first opportunity you have. There are plenty other amazing beautiful sites to view in the area. Dining was ok, but not spectacular in the town. Abe's Glass hour provides friendly efficient service, and great wholesome homemade meals. Harries pancakes as always was great. The chocolate shop prices seemed exorbitant, and I gave that a miss. Support the local curio shops if you can, however, I found some of the pricing to be totally crazy, and at those prices for souvenirs, some other tourist can flash their cash. Would I return? A definite yes, however, I would prefer to bring my own supplies the next time, as shopping for food items in the town is limited to the local Spar. FIX THE POTHOLES, not all visitors have a 4X4 vehicle
Graskop
Perfectly situated for exploring the Panorama Route, and walking distance from restaurants. Lovely garden and very cozy, comfortable accommodation. Fresh filter coffee every morning and the option to have a full breakfast. Very friendly, helpful proprietor who pointed out all the spots to see in our time frame. Graskop is a lovely little town with super friendly locals who are always happy to greet visitors. We always felt extremely safe and welcome. Highly recommended!
1) nice ambience. We very much liked the large pool, the sun loungers, the shady decking area for breakfast and dinner and the large lounge. Attractive artwork throughout the hotel. 2) the simple home cooking. Provision of cereal, bread, butter and jam at breakfast time. 3) being able to eat and drink without leaving the hotel. 4) well kept gardens. 5) Premier League football on TV. 6) very convenient location for 'doing' Blyde Canyon.

* Gerda was extremely nice and helpful, providing tips and maps (before and during our stay) and booking (in advance) a table in one of the best restaurants in Graskop. The dogs were also cute! * The property was spacious and beautiful, parking was safe. * Location: 7 min walking (or 1 min driving) to the center, very quiet. * The room was clean and well-equipped, including a safe, a balcony, coffee machine, small fridge, and a great shower.

There were electric blankets and heaters in the bedrooms. There was also another heater in thr bathroom and a fireplace in the sitting room. They provided firewood for the fireplace. The kitchen was fully equiped with everything we needed. The host was friendly and quick to respond. They gave us a map of the area and places to lookout for nearby. The place is so tranquil and 4 mins away from graskop town, which is near many tourist places.

Rustique was the surprise of our trip. Our host gave us a warm welcome (and had booked a table for us in the excellent nearby restaurant) and the room was really nicely decorated on top of being very comfortable. You will find cute little neighbours in the garden right outside your door (rabbits). The place is located in the city of Graskop which is an ideal starting point for sightseeing the Panorama Road.

The unit is lovely and clean. They have a big garden where you can sit and relax. It is very quiet during the day and it is easy to get to Graskop/Sabie/Pilgrim's Rest from there. They had coffee/tea facilities. It was worth the money I would say.
