The location is amazing, we were completely away from everything and surrounded by nature! The layout of the cottage is wonderful. We enjoyed a few braais as well as coffee outside in the mornings. There are three separate places that we could choose from to sit outside. The water pressure in the shower is great! The rusks, chocolates on the pillow, and sherry were a very nice touch! This is a wonderful place to stay for a good few nights! We were here for 4 nights and didn’t feel like it was enough.

The hosts had put so much thought into every detail and were so kind to us. Each teepee had their own space in the communal kitchen, with board games, a themed message board and everything we could possibly need, including bug spray! The hosts were so kind, assisting us with customizing hiking routes for our interests, recommending restaurants based on our taste, and even spoiling us with a special hand-written message and a bottle of bubbly to celebrate us getting engaged there! Absolutely stunning views, ample space in the teepee, bathrooms and kitchen... wood, firefighters and matches provided, ready and waiting, and such friendly staff! I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend giving this a try. Super unusual, and so brilliant!! Incredibly unique, romantic and just absolutely amazing. Thank you for providing such a wonferful experience,, Alex & Pierre 🙂

Hogsback is a lovely little town but the roads are atrocious...

Hogsback is a lovely little town but the roads are atrocious. I would definitely not go again unless I had a bigger car. The walks are not great in that the upkeep is sad. We found so much refuse at the Madonna & Child example and the walkways are broken and dangerous. Elderly people definitely should not go on the walks except for 39 steps which is easy and average maintained an d The Edge is lovely.

Absolutely love everything about Hogsback!

Absolutely love everything about Hogsback! Breathtakingly beautiful. Great places to eat! It's very sad that the gravel road leading to Hogsback is in a terrible condition! It could hinder people from visiting. A plan should be made, urgently!

Relaxed vibe, but we did not expore the art galleries. Enjoyed the walk to the 800 year old yellowwood. The Arboretum is also a must-do. A lot more can be done to make the place tourist-friendly

The town is small but you need a car to get around as its...

The town is small but you need a car to get around as its uphill and the roads are pretty rough as the roads are dirt roads; ideal place to hike and also Mtn Bike. We were there during the Open Garden weekend. What a treat. Def going back for more next year. No seriously this little place is a must visit in SA

The scenery is out of this world with a number of walks...

The scenery is out of this world with a number of walks ranging from easy to pretty difficult. If self catering, There is a well stocked Spar in the village. Saturday market under the oaks was pleasant with some of my favourites. Yummy home made Nougat and Home made cheeses. To appreciate Hogsback and all it has to offer you need more than just a weekend.

Although raining most of the time and muddy we were able to...

Although raining most of the time and muddy we were able to visit the aboretum when the skies cleared for about an hour. An amazing collection of old trees and a little birding was done. The road from the north is in a bad state and would advise the long route from the south to approach the town. Will visit in better weather conditions next time we hope. The main road in town also needs grading .

Many aspects I liked. -the genuine warm welcome from the hosts -the privacy of a standalone cottage -well equipped cottage with solar powered lights, electric blankets and a heater for the cold Hogsback nights. -The Hogsback Parkrun starting line was also conveniently just around the corner. The bonus of a host with a passion for cooking made for individually prepared, exceptionally delicious dinners.

Awesome rustic wooden cabin on a homestead nestled in the forests of Hogsback, surrounded by nature. Very good for the body, mind & soul! Our host, Morné, was fantastic, very communicative and informative. Loved having all the geese, ducks, chickens etc. roaming around, as well as Lisa, the 'good girl' 🐾 on the property.

We loved our stay at Trengwainton House. The peaceful garden, cozy fireplace, and quiet surroundings made it the perfect escape. The kitchen is well-equipped, and having a dishwasher was a big plus. The outside boma area was great for evening braais. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay in Hogsback!
