Absolutely loved it! Beautiful little cosy cottage. We were given loads of firewood and the fireplace was amazing! Very comfy, electric blankets. Friendly staff. Oh and the restaurant served delicious food!!! Loved it here, highly recommended!

The hosts had put so much thought into every detail and were so kind to us. Each teepee had their own space in the communal kitchen, with board games, a themed message board and everything we could possibly need, including bug spray! The hosts were so kind, assisting us with customizing hiking routes for our interests, recommending restaurants based on our taste, and even spoiling us with a special hand-written message and a bottle of bubbly to celebrate us getting engaged there! Absolutely stunning views, ample space in the teepee, bathrooms and kitchen... wood, firefighters and matches provided, ready and waiting, and such friendly staff! I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend giving this a try. Super unusual, and so brilliant!! Incredibly unique, romantic and just absolutely amazing. Thank you for providing such a wonferful experience,, Alex & Pierre 🙂

Arriving at Misty Oaks we were welcomed by sheep, horses, oak trees and a warm welcoming cottage. Two fireplaces keep you warm, days are filled with fishing, walking, relaxing on the sunny stoep. Relaxed vibe, but we did not expore the art galleries. Enjoyed the walk to the 800 year old yellowwood. The Arboretum is also a must-do. A lot more can be done to make the place tourist-friendly

The town is small but you need a car to get around as its...

The town is small but you need a car to get around as its uphill and the roads are pretty rough as the roads are dirt roads; ideal place to hike and also Mtn Bike. We were there during the Open Garden weekend. What a treat. Def going back for more next year. No seriously this little place is a must visit in SA

The scenery is out of this world with a number of walks...

The scenery is out of this world with a number of walks ranging from easy to pretty difficult. If self catering, There is a well stocked Spar in the village. Saturday market under the oaks was pleasant with some of my favourites. Yummy home made Nougat and Home made cheeses. To appreciate Hogsback and all it has to offer you need more than just a weekend.

Although raining most of the time and muddy we were able to...

Although raining most of the time and muddy we were able to visit the aboretum when the skies cleared for about an hour. An amazing collection of old trees and a little birding was done. The road from the north is in a bad state and would advise the long route from the south to approach the town. Will visit in better weather conditions next time we hope. The main road in town also needs grading .

Loved the magical environment. Quaint shops.

Loved the magical environment. Quaint shops. People friendly. Good walks. Enjoyed the Parkrun - highly recommended. Enjoyed the walk around the Arboretum and walk to 39 Steps waterfall and Kettlespout waterfall. Many more walks we could have done. Enjoyed the labyrinth and Viewpoint from The Edge Mountain Retreat. Enjoyed chocolate and coffee tasting.

Hogsback is a little magic gem that needs to be discovered.

Hogsback is a little magic gem that needs to be discovered. I expected a typical little town, but discovered that the next street is about a kilometer further. Unbelievable beautiful nature and rich abundance of big old trees. Dinner at The Edge and a stroll in The Arboretum with its waterfall were highlights, but I will be back for at least a week to experience more of the magic. The info office is nice, but lacks enthusiasm and does not sell all the wonderful opportunities that the village has.

The location was so central. The value for money was fantastic. The cottage had so many extra things. It is a great place to relax and rest. The gardens are lovely to wonder around as well. The hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the Food Festival down the road on the Friday night and both the Parkrun and market on Saturday around Hogsback.

The cottage set in a magnificent forest type garden blended in with the whole ambience of Hogsback as did the rustic cottage. The leafy lanes surrounding the cottage offered lovely strolls and a mere 500 metres or so from the Edge
