The Queen's Hotel is a colonial-era nonsmoking hotel in the heart of Oudtshoorn. It offers rooms decorated with antique furnishings and a swimming pool in a secluded courtyard. Free WiFi is available....

The property is buzzing with history and the staff was really friendly. I will say that the hotel has a bit of a spooky vibe, but I think the power outage due to load shedding may have contributed to the vibe. we booked on a whim and were so happy to find this gem. It was an experience of its own, but close to Cango caves and everything in Outdshoorn.

Located 8.7 mi from Oudtshoorn, De Opstal Country Lodge offers accommodations in a restored farm building, originally built in 1860.

We were the only guests staying at the lodge and the team took such good care of welcoming us and ensuring we were well looked after. We felt like VIPs have all the amenities to ourselves. We made use of the restaurant and swimming pool and even enjoyed a very tranquil, star gazing fire pit experience. The rooms were tastefully decorated with an interleaving lounge area that provided a great spillover for our 2 young boys. Michael was very attentive to all our needs, and beyond, and a favourite amongst our boys. The home cooked food was delicious and some welcomed healthy eating, after lots of padkos.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour. Conservation Centre - as ethical as sanctuaries open to the public can be, see a huge range of animals. Meerkat Tours - fun and cute but quite overpriced and the owner is horrendously misogynistic. Nostalgie restaurant - food was amazing, however park immediately in front of the restaurant and not any further - there are 'parking attendants' that demand money, and even after paying one the others come and intimidate you (banging on the car and throwing gun symbols).

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two.

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two. Other than that there is not much to do here. You can find big supermarket for every day shopping. We eat at hotel restaurant as not much choice. A lot of powerful like in most places in SA, just got to be careful where and when you go out.

What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer. We went for a lovely wine pairing and pizzas at Karusa winery and also drove on the gravel road from Oudtshoorn to De Rust past the beautiful Rustica Olive Farm.

Such a quaint little town with lots of character and sights to see. We definitely need more time to explore! It is well worth a visit and the drive from the Western Cape on the R62 is the most beautiful drive ever!

Booked for 2 nights, but only slept there one night. Checked out and went to another hotel. Bathroom in poor condition. Shower in bath with a plastic curtain that keeps clinging to your body. Not enough towels. No info received at reception regarding amenities or that TV in room was not working.

I came for a specific purpose but have spent several days there with my wife and young kids way back. It still seems to be a lovely place for a holiday with several interesting places to visit. Too bad the roads are in a sorry state, apart from the main through roads. There were several good options for eating out but I did not use them this time around.
