I really liked the staff. At Mziki Safari Lodge, they really make it a point to satisfy their customer. They called me when I was driving to the lodge to check on us because we did not arrive at the time we had indicated. They even offered to cook a light lunch for us because we arrived after lunch time. Our ranger, "Ndcebo" was very knowledgeable and he went above and beyond to make us happy. He even told us about the stars. We had a very good time. We love the cozy family set ups during breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was a home away from home. Thank you Mziki!

The staff, from the manager to the helpers to the chef, were absolutely polite, accomodating and helpful. Pablo, Blessed, Monica, Elizabeth and Team were outstanding. (I have left out two, and i do apologize if i spelt there names incorrectly.) Martin the game rancher is very knowledgeable and made the game drive exciting and informative. Blessed, the chef, made mouth watering food and all meals were delicious.

We are the only guest for that night but still have several staff to serve us. It is surprised they help to set up dinner table. We did not bring over any food so cannot enjoy the food fire bbq. There are animals around like a mini zoo, we have lots of funs there.

We arrived on Fri, 15 Nov, and was very happy with the reception and treatment we received. We found the staff generally very helpful and we were treated well. I recently had a hip replacement, and found the communal seating area extremely uncomfortable. There were chairs that were placed in the bar area, but sometimes it felt as if you were waiting for a doctor’s appointment. The bucket wicker chairs did not even have comfortable cushions on them, resulting in one feeling as if you are sitting on a church bench. I wanted to watch the rugby (SA vs Eng), but after 15 minutes, I couldn’t sit there any longer. The seats outside the chalets are also terrible. Steel-framed chairs with a small cushion to sit on – nothing that allowed you to relax properly. Then, on Saturday afternoon, we joined to boat cruise. Upon our return, the engine cut out and the ranger battled to get it started, resulting in a radio call to the resort for assistance. During dinner, the rangers asked us if everything was still to our liking. My wife asked the ranger if this engine cutout has happened before. To our surprise, the ranger (who apparently has only been there for a month), confessed that it has happened before. Quite clearly, it points to a lack of proper maintenance on the boat. Our big highlight was the spa. We had a treatment that was really of good quality. Overall it wasn’t a bad weekend, but according to our experience at other 4-star resorts, Finfoot doesn’t rate extremely highly.

The water at the resort is drinkable but is a bit salty to the taste as its borehole water, think of taking some of your own water, there is also a small fridge in the room so you can take some of your own drinks etc too. If you are at the pool side or restaurant you can't take your own drinks, but it is reasonably priced so worth ordering a few cocktails, soft drinks or wine while you are there, the wine was unusual but great!!!

Mziki is a family run private reserve, they put themselves out to accommodate you. Although the reserve is smaller than some, it has the added extra of the river and dams which attract more bird life. You do not meet 10 jeeps when viewing the animals out is much more personal service. We really enjoyed our stay, this is our 2nd visit and I may return again in the future.

It is so beautiful and well worth the 20km dirt-road you need to travel to get there. We saw beautiful buck and even the Giraffes! The staff are customer-focussed, extremely helpful and friendly - we just loved them! The two pools are so inviting and serene - you relax completely. The restaurant is in an ideal setting and the food was yum! It is very easy to get around, because the Rangers are so knowledgeable. We will absolutely be visiting again!

The staff were absolutely superb. Friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and sufficient. The drinks were decently priced. The activities well run and enjoyable. Only negative was that the facilities could be more handicap friendly, especially railings at steps and in bathrooms.

Our trip to Vaalkop Dam was an adventurous and beautiful experience. We loved watching the sun set whilst cruising on the dam with their barge. Also the canoeing was awesome. If you looking for a peaceful experience, try the canoeing activity.
