On a scale of 1 to 10, this place was a 1000! It’s hidden behind the street so it’s more isolated than other places. The machiya had the the perfect mix of traditional and modern features with beautiful sliding doors and windows, tatami mat floors, and futons (SO COMFORTABLE). Yet the bathroom was super modern and had all toiletries supplied. The tea ceremony that we had to welcome us was amazing and the host was so nice! We ordered breakfast and regretted that we didn’t order dinner because it was so good.

The house can walk to Simisu temple about 3-4 min. In house have a little graden. I can drink tea with see the graden.

Stay here! Don’t even think about it. Great location, beautiful space and two hot tubs! One outdoors and one indoors. Perfect for a hot tub + ice bath situation which I really needed after all the walking in Kyoto. Really one of our favorite places!

Everything. The place was wonderful, but the host, Shinji, was even more amazing. One of the best travel experiences we have enjoyed in our lives. We wish we had stayed here for the entire Kyoto trip.

It was a lovely, traditional Japanese place to stay in Kyoto. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the location was convenient, being close to the best ramen restaurant in Kyoto and the train station. Yumi, the owner, and her staff gave us a tour of the house, explaining every detail. They also shared their recommendations for must-visit places during our stay in Kyoto. We absolutely loved this place.

Literally everything. Location is in a very lovely quite neighborhood within walking distance to main area. The Machiya its self is very nicely designed and executed. The building is historic and old while everything inside is modern.

Spacious, clean, quiet. Great for a family with young kids. Great location. Multiple great coffee shops and breakfast shops within east walk.

The accommodations and location were absolutely perfect for our family. It was a wonderful place to recharge after spending the day exploring the surrounding area. The location was ideal for easily exploring with kids. The house had everything we needed and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful! We hope to stay again!

The location was great. It is near 3 train stations Shijo-Omiya, Nijo station and Nijojo-mae station (all under 1KM walk). Shinsenen-mae bus stop is only 100m away. There are many nice eateries around with many large supermarkets, LIFE at Nijo station, Seiyu Sanjo (300m) away as well as Fresco (300m) away. The apartment is also sparkly clean and new unlike some of the comments from the past. The staff at the counter were great and super responsive. There is a folder on the instructions to operate the appliances in the apartment. The coffee capsules given were superb, better than some of those stall bought coffee. We checked in in the evening and was able to enter the apartment without any help. The management sent a detailed video on how to operate the digital key lock prior to check in. The pricing of this apartment was pricey but worth every penny. Will certainly recommend to our friends and family!

The house was very pretty, clean and comfortable. It had all the amenities anyone can think of including bicycles. The owner was very helpful and friendly. The house is located in a very quiet neighbourhood of Kyoto but close to the main tourist places and also close to the northern hills surrounding Kyoto. Definitely recommend!

I loved the apartment. Was very pampering...

The stay was very traditional Japanese. Wood flooring on the base level, Tatami mats on the top level. There was even a small back garden. The atmosphere really cemented the fact that we were in Japan during our stay. The stay was at the end of a side alley street with other traditional residential houses that made me feel like I was living the experience instead of staying at a hotel.

The place is peaceful and lovely.
