With sea views, Denpaku The Beachfront MIJORA is set in Amami and has a restaurant and free shuttle service. There is a private entrance at the villa for the convenience of those who stay. We spent an amazing few days at Denpaku The Beachfront Mijora during our recent trip to Amami. The hotel architecture was amazing and did a great job of leveraging the beachfront location. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable after a long day of activities. The breakfast each morning was a real treat.

Located 19 km from Yakusugi Land, 森のフェアリー Cottage Morino Fairy All cotage with open-air bath with sea view or river view offers a garden, and air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free... Mori no Fairy is a quaint, cosy wooden cottage that faces the sea. Situated on the south-eastern side of Yakushima island, a stay in this property added a sense of homeliness to an already-magical experience that was Yakushima. I stayed alone, but the size of the cottage would have comfortably fit four people. There were two AC units that kept me warm and comfortable, and a simple yet plush couch to rest your weary legs after hiking through the mystical forests of the island. The bathroom facilities were kept immaculately clean throughout my stay, with warm and cool water available. Towels were changed daily: if you choose to sleep in, they'll leave clean towels outside your room for you. There's a small kitchenette for light cooking: good enough for preparing a simple breakfast or a quick meal to take along with you during your hikes. The highlight of this property is definitely the outdoor deck. There's a small table and some chairs where you can sit and enjoy alfresco-style dining, and two recliners for nightly star-gazing sessions. There's even a small observation deck (accessed via a ladder with about 9 steps) that you can climb up onto for a better view. Last but definitely not least: a goemonburo, which I learned is a traditional Japanese iron bath. Imagine that: being able to soak in your own personal steaming outdoor bath while admiring the sea view that lies before you, and all this after a picturesque but grueling hike when all your muscles are sore. There are some experiences you know will stay with you for life, and this is one of them for me. The hospitality of the property's staff was gracious and welcoming. Upon arrival, my cottage was clearly marked out for me with proper instructions on what to do. They were was very prompt in their replies to my enquiries before I arrived, and they spoke very good English.

At Cottage Morinokokage, guests can rent out a cottage with a hammock. Free WiFi is available in the guest rooms. Our host Mr Nakashima was very kind and generous during our stay. He always replied to our messages via bookings.com very quickly, so it was easy to ask any questions and get help whenever we needed. When we had to change our travel dates and book a different room for the last day, he was very understanding and went the extra mile to assist us in transferring our luggage to the new room. Needless to say, the cottages themselves were adorable and lovely! Very clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The best thing is the shoe dryer machine provided in the room. Because it rains so much in Yakushima, that device was invaluable in preparing our footwear for another day of adventure as they would be dry in no time! On the only one clear night we experienced, we were able to see some stars outside the room. The atmosphere is peaceful and you can hear birds chirping in the morning. It rained almost every day we visited, and yet we truly enjoyed our time in Yakushima thanks to the warm welcome from his family & colleagues, and appreciate all the help (especially advising us on the correct port to go for our departure ferry).

Set in Kirishima, the recently renovated 貸切温泉宿 Shiny inn Kirishimaシャイニーイン霧島 offers accommodation 3.6 km from Kirishima Jingu Shrine and 17 km from Ebino Plateau. Everything! Spacious, super clean, well, wonderful view, the owner was responsive and super nice, helped us with anything we needed. Everything about it was so convenient and comfortable. So many outlets, great Wi-Fi, washing machine, and of course, the highlight - a private onsen! Really a wonderful stay.

温泉の別荘 久遠霧島 is located in Kirishima. With free private parking, the property is 4.1 km from Kirishima Jingu Shrine and 18 km from Ebino Plateau. We loved the onsen bath, comfortable and well equipped house and the large decking and views.

Situated in Kagoshima, less than 1 km from Kagoshima Chuo Station and 3.9 km from Kagoshima Station, Guest House Fu-ga offers air conditioning. Felt comfortable and peaceful. A great place for a family with kids to experience Kagoshima.

Situated in Amami and only 2.1 km from Higashi Beach, Buena Vista Villa Amami features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. We were off-season in Amami for our honeymoon, and had the best time! The cabin is new and well organized. There's even a glimpse on the sea from it. The host was really nice and available. There's everything you need to make breakfast / simple meals, and also a firepit / bbq. Thank you!

This was truly a home away from home. The house is beautiful and comfortable with many practical details that are well thought through and made our stay extremely smooth and enjoyable. The location is perfect to explore the island, in a quiet village but not completely isolated. The instructions and many recommendations were highly appreciated. Would have happily stayed longer!
