Yuzan apartment Sanjo queda aproximadamente a 18 km de Iwafune Shrine y ofrece alojamiento con vista al jardín, una terraza y balcón. A lovely traditional building so close to the JR station. The house had beautiful wooden details, sliding doors, tatami mats and a private garden. There was a Japanese style bathroom, which we loved. It had air conditioning, fans and underfloor heating (which we didn’t use as it was hot!) There was shoyu, oil and seasoning in the kitchen, soap and toiletries for the bathroom. The owner was very kind, helpful and polite, and made us feel very welcome. Staying in the house was an experience in itself and it was lovely having somewhere so restful and homelike to return to after busy days. There is a convenience store literally around the corner which was very handy for milk, smoothies, pouches of fruit and snacks for the children. It is also close to the shopping area and other station - although we tended to use the JR station as we were travelling with a four year old with little legs!

The Naramachi Villa Kamunabi is a traditional 'machiya' [townhouse] in a quiet neighborhood just south of the main commercial/tourist area in Nara. The villa has recently been remodelled with exceptional taste and functionality: every detail has been carefully thought out in a beautiful blend of tradition and modern convenience. There were 6 of us, and we had plenty of room. We loved the 2-story layout, with a large tatami room, a cozy living room, kitchen, toilet, and bath on the first floor, and a huge upstairs with two beds, a desk, and a large tatami area. We slept on 3 very comfortable futon on the first floor for those of us over 60 (!), with the younger family members upstairs. The kitchen was well-equipped (with an induction range, no less), and the bath exceptional. There were separate heating/cooling units in the three main areas, which allowed us to adjust temperatures as needed. A perfect place for a family vacation or a group of friends to stay.
