The ambience takes you back to the class and elegance of a time long ago. The staff were kind and lots of fun. My husband and I had the pleasure to meet the general manager Momi. What a classy and gracious person. He talked to us for awhile and offered up some excellent wine for the new year. We will be back.

What a wonderful hotel - from the warm welcome on arrival to every detail of the stay. Super comfortable rooms (we had 4); breakfast delivered to your door but on a tray so you could head up to the deck overlooking the Bay, Alcatraz and San Francisco beyond. The front desk staff were all helpful and friendly but we have to give a big Shout Out for Tom who went out of his way to make us welcome and help us with restaurant ideas, parking etc.

The Monte Cristo is a warm, welcoming, wonderful place to stay! We enjoyed its unique ambiance and history along with the comfortable rooms, fabulous always-available snacks, hot breakfast, and modern bathrooms. The location was perfect, within walking distance to the Presidio and not far from other San Francisco attractions. And by the way - San Francisco felt very, very safe, no matter what you hear. A gorgeous city.
