Conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from JR Karuizawa Shinkansen (bullet train) Station, Hotel Grand Vert Kyu Karuizawa offers spacious guestrooms with a comfortable sofa and free WiFi. The staff were excellent, the room was spacious, and breakfast was delivered to the room in a cute basket — very lovely and impressive. They also have bicycles available for rent. I’ll definitely come back. Great value for money!

Located in a forest, Tokonamiso offers a nature retreat with Japanese-style rooms, barbecue facilities and free WiFi access in the lobby area. This place is amazing. The other reviews are a bit harsh- don’t go here if you’re expecting to stay in a luxurious hotel room with an all inclusive vibe- that is clearly not what this hotel advertises. They provide a traditional Japanese room to sleep in, a separate toilet, all of which are very clean and well maintained. They have tea and coffee facilities, a fridge and a microwave and they VERY clearly tell guests multiple times before staying that they do NOT provide food and that there is none there. If you choose to ignore this then that’s on you!! If you want a hotel with food then go somewhere else! It’s honestly not much hassle to get some food and bring it to the hotel room, given the availability of food in Japan. Come prepared and you’ll have the best stay because you’ll ultimately spend most of your time in the onsen at the neighbouring hotel- which is absolutely incredible. The best onsen I’ve been to in the whole of Japan. The views, the relaxing nature around you, the tranquility. It is 100% worth a visit and I would definitely return.

Boasting various indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, Izumiya Zenbe is a historical Japanese-style accommodation with a chic ambiance, established in 1876. Incredible place, where time seems to be suspended. Bedroom, dining room, shared spaces, onsens, everything is breathtaking. Meals are rich, various and delicious. Staff is very nice.
