Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. I loved everything about the place!

I'm so happy I didn't decide to stay in Funchal or any other hotel closer to the airport. This place had a soul.

The staff was Excellent. They went out of their way to help to recommend outstanding restaurants, activities and the happy hour was fantastic to meet other travelers. The location is excellent.

With 400 meters of private sea front, the 5-star property offers spacious rooms all with balcony and views of the Atlantic and the Deserted Islands. Overall, we loved everything here. I'm serious, it was perfect and met all my expectations and I spent some of the best days of my life here.

Everything was clean and tidy. The staff was very helpful and the facilities were also top notch! We enjoyed the breakfast spread and the kids had a great time at the indoor heated pool.

Fantastic gardens, great views of the hills and sea..convenient for the buses to get into town with bus stops right outside. Beautiful breakfast every morning. Staff always helpful with any enquiries and special thanks to Manuela for arranging car hire with car dropped directly to the car park.

Set within tropical gardens on Madeira Island, this charming guesthouse features far-reaching sea views and 2 outdoor seawater pools and access to the sea. Great 4 star hotel,excellent breakfast, has pools, privet beach access in city center. Free parking, walking distance to main attractions. Would recommend.
