Hotely ve čtvrti Geo Milev, Sofie

The hotel cannot hide that it was built in the socialist times and it reminded me of the old times but not in a bad way. The facilities, while not luxurious, were functional, everything was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful (and they spoke English at the reception desk). I also enjoyed the breakfast; again, not super large buffet you may know from large hotels, there is just a fixed menu of five combinations of items from which you choose one; but it was tasty and always rich enough for me. (I prepaid the breakfast and every day got a coupon for the next day; but it turned out you could also just walk in and order the breakfast for the same price. In fact, if you do not show your coupon right at the beginning, they will assume you are going to pay on spot, and will not be very happy if you pull out the coupon afterwards.) The location was perfect for me, as I was visiting an institute at the academy, just 3 minutes away. It is also reasonably close to the airport. On the other hand, city center is not in walking distance but you can reach it with tram no. 20 (goes every 10-20 minutes, the ride takes 20-30 minutes depending on where you get off). Having read some previous reviews, I was a bit worried about the wifi, but it worked for me perfectly; maybe they upgraded it recently.
