Was there during the summer. Great place to escape the heat, go for a hike etc. Great place to rest with traditional Japanese inn experience. Very hospitable hosts with amazing breakfast. If possible, I'd like to return here during other seasons (e.g., winter)

Our hosts were extremely hospitable. Upon hearing that we were heading to a nearby ryokan, our host offered to drive us over for free (and refused the cash we pulled out of our wallets multiple times). The food was amazing as well!

We stayed one night, and could happily have stayed for several more. The host was so friendly, and so helpful. Lovely outdoor space, and a well provisioned kitchen. The Japanese hot tubs stayed hot overnight, so we could use them again the next day. Beautiful surrounding countryside, and the history of the school house is fascinating. Lots of space, and we were able to barbecue outside.

You sense immediately the history of this establishment (it started as a monastic lodge in 1754). Exceptional kaiseki dinner and breakfast with a large selection of classic Japanese dishes all made from local produce. The view from the hotel room was breathtaking and the outdoor onsen, which you could access in the morning, was a treat. The couple running the place were so attentive and charming.

Cosy house just 2 train stops from the UNESCO World Heritage Yoshinoyama Park. Ideal for a small family, as there are 2 bedrooms. The house was very clean and the owner allowed me a slightly early check-in as it was available. Instructions on how to access the house was clear and messages were also replied to quite promptly. Made my stay seamless. There is also a supermarket and Lawsons convenience store just a few minutes walk away. The house is located in Yoshino town on the other side of Yoshino river, so there are not many eating places, but the supermarket and Lawson have affordable bento meals and side dishes. There is also an electric stove and microwave oven to cook or heat up your meals. A slight inconvenience is that the house is located 15 minutes by walking from the nearest train station, but it is just 2 stations from Yoshinoyama Park.
