Ann, our host, was very welcoming and we communicated very well with our pigeon French and her pigeon English. The property is very homely and is located in a small village south of Dijon. Our room/s were in a self contained upstairs area with our own private bathroom. There were two double rooms and additional bunkbeds plus a cot for a baby. It had a small kitchen area where coffee etc was provided. We had access to Netflix which was lovely after our long drive as we just wanted to chill. Breakfast was superb!!! Home made yoghurt, fresh fruit, pain au chocolate and fresh bread with every possible spread you could wish for.

Stunning castle - couldn’t believe we could stay in such a genuine , beautiful and historic place . Alexis was very kind and helpful - we arrived late and he made us a delicious cheese plate and fantastic wine which we ate in the atmospheric dining room . He advised us where to cycle and showed us some paintings from the war on the wall of the stable block . Everything about our stay felt unique and special .

This was so much more enjoyable than staying in any formal hotel. It is an invitation to stay in a marvellous, historical chateau and family home with perfect hosts. I was met as I arrived in front of the chateau by the owner who introduced himself with a smile as 'the gardener'! Bertrand is a most charming gentleman who then invited me to join him in the chateau for tea. He talked with me about the chateau and its history; he is an historian and quite fascinating. Later, I enjoyed a delicious supper of Quenelles Lyonaise with leeks, cauliflour and cheese, and wine of course, followed by a calamalised 'winter' apple crumble and cream - then followed by cheeses and coffee. Bertrand apologised and said this was a 'simple supper' as I was the only guest that evening. I could not have enjoyed anything better. Christine, who is of English and French descent, is a superb cook and it was great to have traditional French country food. She speaks perfect English and I enjoyed a long conversation with both Christine and Bertrand over the course of the evening. My room was in The Orangerie, and was both very comfortable and attractively decorated in a traditional style. I heard only the owls.
