We loved everything about our stay at Lochmara Lodge. We stayed for two nights with our family and It was a little bit of a splurge, but did not disappoint! The location was stunning, the fact that you got there by water taxi made it remote and uncrowded, and there were plenty of things to do (hike, paddleboard, kayak). Also, the food was delicious and the staff was accommodating and helpful.

We had a fabulous stay at Te Mahia. Arriving by boat at the jetty , the view of the resort was breathtaking! We had rooms at the front of the building : wonderful sea views and only moments from the sea . Our rooms were charming and comfortable and staying in the older part of the property you got a real sense of history of the place . The food at Tinkers Kitchen was delicious: fresh and cooked to order , and a great option to BYO. The owners Trevor and Jann were great hosts : super helpful and informative. We loved our time there , and very much hope to return !

Very happy with the stay. I did arrive late on the first night and left early hours of the morning, as I only needed a pit stop to sleep before catching the ferry to Wellington - so didn’t really get to see too much during. Enjoy a beautiful 30 minute boat cruise through the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sound, getting here is just part of the adventure. There are scheduled runs available. Or you can come to Hopewell by plane, floatplane, or kayak. And there is a water taxi service available from Picton, Portage and Te Mahia. We are happy to help you organise your transfer.
