The family was very nice and sweet. I felt very welcome. On my first night, in addition to having my room upgraded, they invited me to bake sweet potatoes on the fireplace. It was surreal, such hospitality and kindness are rare to find. The kids and the dog were adorable, too. The homestay is very spacious, high ceiling, and very modern, minimalistic fengshue'ish decor. The room is very clean and comfy. The home is located on the citadel, near the main monument. It is also far from noisy tourists and karaoke bars.I loved the fact that it's a non tourist area because I had the chance to interact with the real Vietnamese people who were kind and smiling, and the small kids waving and saying hello, was heart melting. . I had a great time experiencing their culture and their foods, and the pleasure to eat the most delicious street foods on the area; the bun bo hue soup just outside the home, the ice ka- phe and the fried bananas were simply divine. Hanh is the sweetest and loveliest host. She welcomed us to her home when we arrived and took the time to go through check in process. She even had a lovely tea ready for us as we have just arrived from Hai Van Pass over motorbike. Hanh herself is an extremely talented musician and has won awards at championships for Đàn tranh. She invited us to watch her practice at the imperial city which we did, and that was something special we wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. The room was comfortable with a private outdoor bathroom, AC, fan and we had free drinking water for our entire stay. Hanh also has a lovely little dog that we enjoyed patting during our stay. And to top it off, we couldn’t get a taxi to the train station due to a heavy thunderstorm. So she called everyone she knew and managed to get her neighbour, who is a taxi driver, to take us. Wish we could’ve stayed for longer. Hanh is amazing and we’re glad we got to spend the night in Hue at her lovely abode.

Ciel homestay is located in the old town area. It has beautiful rooms and a big kitchen and sitting area where we could make our own food if we wanted. Our teens could even keep their chocolate cool in the fridge ;) The garden invites to sit down and enjoy or wonder around. The dogs are good and friendly housekeepers. We liked it very well to be away from the busy turist area on the other side of the river and mingle with the locals at night for dinner. The owners are very heart-warming and welcoming. We loved to be at Ciel! Highly recommend, when you are searching for a peacefull place in the middel of Hue town.

We stayed in the Lake View room and it was lovely, especially seeing the daily lives of those living around the lake. The room was clean and comfortable. Laundry services were available and the host did an amazing job with our clothes. The homestay is within walking distance to the Imperial City as well as a local market. Great food options in the area. Some of the best spots were in hidden alleys. The homestay is also near a great corner cafe, tasty bánh mì, and an excellent barber. The host for this homestay was so incredibly sweet! It was a joy to interact with her and her visitors. Yes, there is a language barrier, but I'm not sure where most of the reviewers think they are traveling to. You'd think they were going to the UK or Canada with how much English they expect everyone to speak. Folks, you're in Vietnam and there are plenty of translation apps!
