We could walk out of the property, and the sea and shops were just around the corner. We had a top floor gite , which was self contained, with our own private balcony. It was more than what we expected. We wished we could have stayed longer. The cycling routes around the island are great. We will definitely come back and stay at the same accommodation. This hotel is situated in its own Mediterranean-style gardens on Oleron Island. It offers a heated swimming pool and is just 900 metres from beaches on the French Atlantic coast. Location convenient for beaches. Staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfast excellent.

We loved the place! Excellent facilities, organisation of space, kitchen was so fully and quality equipped (excellent toaster, capsule coffe maker, even cheese grater, pasta drainer…). The garden was lovely for breakfasts and dinners. We would read in the garden after dinner, bathed in delightful sunset light playing in the trees nearby. Great options to modulate darkness (shutters, curtains), great sleep quality with minimal, very faint noise from the road. I give 9/10 to the location because we were on public transport and free summer shuttles are not so frequent + the stop is 13 minutes walk away (Camping Fief Melin). But the regional buses were very useful and only 5 minutes away (stop La Gaconniere). For those on bikes/cars, location is ideal. Chateau d’Oleron is a lovely town and Gatseau beach and its pine trees are close to the house - again, great. Yes, the bathroom is small, but the shower is still 80*80 so that was ok for us. Wi-fi worked perfectly. Finally, the hosts are warm and kind and ensured everything was perfect. Highly recommended.
