Set in Fujikawaguchiko, less than 1 km from Lake Kawaguchi, HOSTEL MICHIKUSA-YA offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. The host is very kind. He collects you from Kawaguchiko Station and brings you to the hostel otherwise it is a 30min walk. Unfortunately we didn't get to see Mt Fuji when we were here but had a lovely stay. It is very peaceful here. The facilities are great. The host has a great attention to detail. The shared showers were lovely. We stayed on the traditional futons which was a great experience.

Wafu Guesthouse Kashiwaya is located a 5-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station and a 7-minute drive from Kawaguchiko Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. I adore every aspect of this place. Its proximity to the station is convenient, and the room is incredibly spacious, with a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji.

Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Very nice ryokan managed by very nice people. The location is the best of all in Nagano, nearly in front of the Zenkoji temple. If you wish to try a Ryokan, which is something very different from a western style hotel and refreshing in many ways, just book it!
