Himawari in Minami Aso biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de bergen, een tuin, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. Zowel WiFi als privéparkeren is bij de homestay gratis toegankelijk. De eigenaar was zo ontzettend vriendelijk en heel gastvrij. De kamer was schoon en de bedden comfortabel! De eigenaar reserveerde voor ons een heel goed yakiniku restaurant en bracht ons er zelfs naartoe met zijn auto. Als laatste hoogtepunt wil ik ook graag Leo noemen, de mega lieve en schattige golden retriever van de eigenaar!

Let me start with an advise; when you come to Japan go to Kyushu and stay in this hotel. My wife and I enjoy our last evening here (we stayed 5 nights) and this hotel is excellent. The location, the room (we stayed in the suite), the food, but most of all the excellent staff. The staff make you feel welcome, the service is warm and personal, yet professional at the same time. They know who you are from the moment you arrive. One of the best performances we experienced and we travel a lot. My wife has a rare allergy and they provided special meals for here. Exceptional. The hotel is also very clean and is recently renovated. The onsen in the room and the public one are comfortabel / beautiful. The location is perfect to visit Mount Aso, Kumamoto, Beppu, Oita, Takachiho gorge et cetera. Can’t recommend this place enough!

金春 -in KONPAL Penthouse-, een accommodatie met een tuin en een terras, is gelegen in Kikuyo, op 13 km van Suizenji Park, 14 km van Kasteel Kumamoto, en 14 km van Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei. Very spacious penthouse apartment that has access to rooftop terrace with street and Mt Aso view. We enjoyed going up the rooftop terrace to just chill, read a book, have a drink and enjoy the Kumamoto weather. Deck chairs, chairs and table provided too. Heating, ventilation and lighting is sufficient for comfort in all seasons. The place is tastefully decorated and super well equipped kitchen like a good quality home. The bar counter with bar stools and large dining table are great for hosting a get together. There are board games, big TV, a set of golf clubs and putting mat for use. Many cans of beer were provided in the fridge for our consumption. Bathroom is big and the bathtub fitted 2 persons very comfortably. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Host was helpful and precise with instructions that made check-in very smooth. Definitely a Value-for-money place which we will return to!

Rental villa Gontaya bevindt zich in Takamori, op 48 km van Suizenji Park, 50 km van Kasteel Kumamoto en 25 km van Aso vulkaan, en biedt accommodatie met een balkon en gratis WiFi. Ontbijt was prima niets op aan te merken. De accommodatie was prima heel ruim huis voor ons vieren. De omgeving was heel mooi in een rustige bosrijke om geving. Ken de eigenaar van het huis is een heel behulpzame aardige man.

Amakusa Tenku No Fune ligt in Kami Amakusa, en is voorzien van een seizoensgebonden buitenzwembad. Deze ryokan met 5 sterren biedt gratis WiFi, een 24-uursreceptie en een conciërgedienst. Room was spacious and had picturesque views across the inlet. Private Onsen was excellent. Restaurant setting took advantage of the location, staff were professional and attentive.

From our friends experience who stayed in other places in the area they only had very specific Japanese food (pickles and seaweed etc). This place served more regular to Western people Japanese food. We loved sukiyaki!!! In addition, we want to thank Dikshya, she was so kind and helpful. We speak very little Japanese so sometimes it was necessary to have a fluent English speaker. The onsen was very well equipped and the water was hot spring water. We would happily visit again!!!

Has sauna and cold bath. Tattoo is ok even though it says not ok. Most of the people at onsen has tattoo. Family friendly. Do not avail their breakfast buffet. Same price for kids and adults 2750 yen. Needs reservation. We reserved at 0800. Arrived at 0805 by 0835, food is gone. They’re putting away the food to get ready for lunch buffet. Not so much selections. The front desk does not speak english and will avoid talking to you. He does not entertain questions. The one helping to carry our bags speaks english and answers all our questions.
