The view was incredible, made sure to wake up early to see the sunrise on the lake Onsen is very nice and they sell tattoo patches if you have small tattoos that need covering. If you have a lot of tattoos, it's about a 20 min drive to a tattoo-friendly onsen town Room was a nice combination of traditional and modern as there were Western beds but also a tatami room. Lots of amenities in the room, bathroom was also lovely. Staff are very polite and helpful (I forgot my earbuds and they are posting them to me) Good option for a couple get-away, would happily go back again

The staff went out if their way daily to adjust Breakfast based on whatever we wanted to eat. We rotared between various fruits, pastries, eggs, croissants, different juices on a daily basis. The staff was extremely accommodating. On a separate note, the location was amazing! You were in the city, but on outskirts. So you had an amazing view from your unit - unobstructed scenic mountain and nature views - but could walk out the front door and we're minutes away from anything.

Yukie and Kevin were excellent hosts and Yukie’s breakfasts were an unexpected delight. The house is set deep in exquisite countryside, surrounded by wooded hills. We visited Kyoto, both by train and by car, and also saw a local temple and tea plantation. Our hosts and other people in the small village couldn’t have been more helpful when we had some problems - they ensured we were able to continue with our trip. We would love to come again one day.

Everything was incredible. Toru-san was very accommodating and friendly, and also a genius for making the machiya so beautiful and charming. The design of the machiya was absolutely brilliant, and every tiny detail had been thought of. Toru even provided us with tea and snacks, which we were very grateful for after long days exploring Kyoto. The bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable, and the bathroom and sauna were just perfect for a soak and a relax at the end of the day. I could go on forever about how excellent the machiya was, but there's only so much you can fit into a short review! "さんきゅうそうまちや! "

The inn is surrounded by green tea companies, including a famous matcha producer just a few minutes’ walk away - perfect for tea enthusiasts! Practical amenities abound: a 24/7 supermarket with fresh products is right by the station. Inside, the inn is cozy and peaceful. My room was small but clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen and living room with a nice dining table made it easy to feel at home. The owners are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Japan’s tea culture while maintaining easy access to Kyoto’s attractions.
