Yes it's gorgeous, perched on the side of the mountain with stunning views and luxury accom like having your own onsen but it was the staff who really made it outstanding....Maria, Tui and everyone else were incredibly responsive and helpful...not only when due to train changes, we were 2 hours late arriving (the kitchen staff held our dinner) but also when we left a phone with our JR passes in the taxi. (which we were able to recover!!!)

Boasting mountain views, Soil provides accommodation with a garden, barbecue facilities and a shared lounge, around 30 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto. Super cosy with full facilities. Good size for two pax. We ate in almost every other day. Simple kitchenware was provided. The scenery was simply amazing - so peaceful and quiet. Felt like a homestay experience. Great base to explore the Aso region.

Situated within 4.5 km of Nakamura Art Museum and 5.7 km of Japan Spinning Top Museum, THE Retreat provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Iizuka. We loved everything about our stay! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 5. The tub on the porch was amazing. Grilling out on our front porch was very fun and the heaters made it nice and warm even in winter. We enjoyed morning yoga, fire pit s'mores and the free drinks and mocktails from the garden kitchen. There is an incredible park within walking distance. So much fun!

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Himawari is situated in Minami Aso, 36 km from Suizenji Park and 39 km from Kumamoto Castle. Our host was incredibly welcoming and the other guests really respectful so we felt right at home. The location was ideal for visiting hiking spots nearby. There was the possibility to do laundry which we really appreciated and there is a good yakiniku restaurant nearby (our host even kindly drove us there and brought us back).

SEKIYA RESORT Terrace Midoubaru is located a 15-minute drive from JR Beppu Station and boasts guestrooms with a semi open-air bath. Guests can soak in the hot spring bath. Amazing traditional boutique onsen hotel in Beppu with omakase dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast. Highly recommended!
